Charlotte Show-I was actually there and just got back...

Pieces,

Thanks for doing my dirty work. Everything is as she said in her post.

My interpretation of the show...no spoilers.

Eddie sounded INCREDIBLE! Didn't miss a note. Thanks to rehab, he didn't rush into this tour and fuck it up like the last one.

David Lee Roth...not the guy you remember from 1983, but then again it has been a QUARTER OF A FUCKIN" CENTURY!!! He doesn't jump anymore, but you'll get a bunch of kicking. He does sound good.

Michael Anthony...unless you've got a serious burr up your butt about him not being on the tour, you simply won't miss him. Whether or not they are piping in background vocals, I don't know...either way I doubt anyone missed him....and this comes from a Michael Anthony fan!

Opening act...Who the hell thought a reggae band should open for Van Halen? Arrive a half an hour late, do yourself that favor.

Tour memorabilia...not nearly as overpriced as I would have thought. In fact the Styx/Foreigner/Def Leppard t-shirts were FAR more overpriced. We got a classic Van Halen tour shirt for $35...not bad all things considered.

Missing Sammy Hagar... I got to admit, there are some Hagar era tunes I would have loved to have heard. Overall I think that Sammy is a better singer, songwriter and musician than David Lee Roth. It boils down to this, David Lee Roth IS THE VAN HALEN VOCALIST...PERIOD. As good as Sammy still is, he's just not what made VH...VH. DLR provides the atmosphere.

Let me put it this way...when most of us go to the grocery store we bitch about a 12 pack being $1.50 more than a cheap brand, yet we have no trouble dropping $10 on a 24 ounce beer at an outdoor shed concert. What's the difference? We are paying for the environment. David Lee Roth is the environment.

A great show, my wife loved it 'cause Eddie STARTED the show with his shirt off. Funny thing, no one ever introduced the band (read Wolfie here). I thought it was kinda odd.

Great show, I'm glad I was there for a part of rock history.

Enjoy your upcoming shows.
