Cautiously Optimistic

Postby Tito » Wed Jun 04, 2008 12:21 am

Last night, I was at the final show on the tour and I will say I am cautiously optimistic about the band, in the current form, continuing on. They seemed happy and Eddie didn't stop smiling all night. That could be a good thing or bad thing. Maybe he was just happy to get done with this or maybe he really was happy how things have gone. Who knows.

I was at the Chicago show this past Friday and that show left me a little nervous. I didn't see much interaction at that show (for at least the first 1/2 or more of that show) as I had seen at the previous shows on the tour.

So, the Grand Rapids show at least makes me feel better. There was a nice hug Eddie gave Dave, Dave gave Wolf a nice pat on the back and handshake as they walked off stage.

I will be back with more details later of the show.

A pat on the back? Seems a little distant to me...

I sure hope the band records something, but right now I think we will see a hiatus...

I was going to save this for the more detailed report but Dave did call Wolfie the MVP of the tour. Also, said, "You had a tough job and did a hell of job." Eddie seemed to get teary eyed.

Some new material would be nice...if they are going to stay together.

Odds are you're probably right. Hopefully, not though. If they do something it probably won't be until next year. However, Dave did also say to the effect about coming back.

Tito's "reading between the lines" skills suck, folks. It was quite obvious that as much of an egomaniac as Dave is that he had a ton of respect for the job Wolfgang did. I have a feeling that Wolfie had to babysit his old man more than a few times...perhaps both guys. You could almost see images from the tour running through Dave's head as his speech started as one of satire and morphed into one of respect and admiration. I think it dawned on him that Wolfie pulled it off...something I'm sure they were all skeptical about at one point or another. Factor in his age and that kid did a lot of growing up in a short period of time.

By all accounts, Wolf deserves a medal.

I see the band putting out a live DVD at this point...maybe a live album...I would not hold my breath for new material.

Yup, I agree about Wolfie. I didn't miss MA one bit, but it would have been nice to have all 4 original members up there. Now that Wolfie has gotten through his first tour and all of the criticism about his youth, weight, etc., he will only get better and be taken more seriously as the bass player for VH.

Imagine if VH released a similar package to what Journey just did - live DVD, new CD and a CD of re-records (well, I guess we don't need the re-records ). DLR mentioned that they were recording, so I think as long as they got some great footage there will be a live DVD, maybe even in time for Christmas. :)

I believe it was announced a few weeks ago they were recording for a live DVD to be released later in the year.

There will be a new record. I feel it in my bones.

Sometime in 2009.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

official old live material would be great, but I have boots to hold me over.

I would rather have some new music and see what these guys can do again. the last two songs they did were excellent and would love to see something like that again. though more in classic VH vain.
