Huey Lewis & The News

Ok so I might get a bag full of hate mail, Huey & the boys are not everyone's idea of Rock Icons but you gotta give these guys cred, they stuck to their guns playing their unique blend of home grown R&B rock and their still touring the states year in year out (bout 80 shows a year) playing to 3 - 4,000 people every night. They also wrote and produced their own stuff and made it big on their own terms.much respect to the Mill Valley lads for keeping "the heart of rock 'n' roll beating..." did you catch their new track, the theme song to seth rogens stoner comedy Pineapple Express? a great tongue and cheeck throwback.

I like to listen to them with my wife. She loves Huey Lewis. Some great romantic tunes, and it rocks hard enough for me to enjoy but not so much as for her not to enjoy. We are in our late 30's, though, so we enjoy 80's stuff like Huey, REO Speedwagon, Air Supply, Amy Grant.

I would never listen to this kind of stuff alone. Dokken, Yngwie, M.S.G., 80's Christian rock like Whitecross are my choices for just me. For just me, I am bored unless I am hearing virtuosic guitar playing.

I love Huey and the boys! Their style of rock is exactly what I think of...12-bar R&B boogie-woogie blues-based rock!!
