Gamers?

Postby Jonny B » Tue Sep 29, 2009 1:18 pm

My usual posting forums are a bit on the deserted side and noticed that this little forum popped up.

So while I'm browsing by, I'm just curious if there are any gamers here? Can be any type. PC gamers? Console or portable gamers? Favorite systems? Games? Accomplishments?

Used to play tons... no time any more :(

Free time I get I'd rather play guitar, work out, or drink beer

I'm a 360 fan, and play the biggest 3 or 4 blockbuster games each year. I LOVED the new "Batman- Arkham Asylum" game. I'm waiting for "Call Of Duty Modern Warfare" to come out too! :D I don't have that much time to play anymore with work and songwriting, so I stick to the biggest games.

Driving on PS2 or PS3

Shooter on PC

Why don't you just come out and SAY you're gay?  I just bought "Need For Speed- Shift" a couple of days ago, and the fucking game has more bugs than Terminix!!! Do NOT buy that game! I played it the 1st day, and won about 15 races. I saved it, and turned it off. The next day, I turned it on, and it made me start over from scratch! :x When I tried to, it made me buy a car all over. When I tried that, it said I had no slots for a car!!! :x :x I've been reading about this game, and EA needs to refund every fucking person who bought this game!!! I can't even PLAY the game now! I'm going to E.B. Games tomorrow, and if they won't give me my money back...someone's getting an ASS whipping!

I'm kind of a noob gamer, I only play easy-ish stuff because games make me way too angry if I'm dying all the time. I like RPGs overall. I was addicted to Oblivion (some 350+ hours clocked on that stupid game) and I was addicted to Sims 2 and 3 for a while. I also liked Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime, Katamari, Portal, FF III on the DS.

Also, it's not a game, but I spent a lot of time in Second Life until recently, mostly shopping because I'm too poor in real life for it.

I stay away from MMOs because I know my life would completely stop.

I'm gonna look into Fallout 3 since apparently it's exactly like Oblivion.

Have you checked out Fable 1 or 2? If not, I think you'd LOVE these games! They're awesome.

Damn, fighting games are hard as hell. I was a really good Starcraft player longggg ago, a mediocre to decent CounterStrike player, and a pretty good CoD: Modern Warfare player a couple years ago... never ever even got close to being decent at a fighting game.

Ah yes, CounterStrike is a fun game too. Yes! very true, fighting games take literally years, even a good decade to become world class, they require at least 5 hours a day practice on a consistant basis, do that for years. Plus side I got pretty decent over the years, the negative factor is I spent ALOT of my youth doing it :)

I just never have been that good at combo games... even the third-person action games like Devil May Cry and the like. I can beat them on the moderate difficulty, but that's about as far as I go.

Starcraft, when I was between the ages of 11-14... dear god, I probably was averaging 60 hours a week on that thing... Id come home from school, grab a pop, order a pizza, and not come down at all, go to bed at 3, get up at 6 for school, wash rinse and repeat. I was damn good too... only game I've ever gotten to a world-class level in. I was in some Korean clan

I used to play madden but my old PS finally gave up the ghost a few months ago.

Right now I am playing Lord of the Rings Online quite casually -- I have a minstrel named Tuddin who is good at farming taters and pipeweed - brewing beer and hacking down orcs and wargs. It's a very relaxing game.

I'm a big X-Box 360 player (Gamertag: Woodbridge53). I love playing FPS games like Halo 3 and the Call of Duty series, plus most sports games and the occasional RPG like Fable II.

Fun fact: I met my girlfriend of 9 months on Halo 3. That's pretty much the first sign that we're meant to be. ;)

In the (very) old days I played Doom, Quake, Myst and Half Life regularly. These days it's only Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and most recently, Dance Dance Revolution (that one is great exercise!)

First Person Shooters - Fallout 3 on PS3

Postby infinityplusone » Wed Sep 30, 2009 10:33 pm

I just love the world they've created. Previously, Half-Lifes I & II. I pick up about one title/year and play it through. Enjoyed GTA Vice City and to a lesser extent San Andreas. GTA IV - - sold it before I even put in two hours. I guess I'm of the (minority) opinion that the GTA games have gotten worse, even though they're "bigger and better" with every new release. The graphics of GTA IV on my PS3 (on a 50" plasma tv) just -sucked- compared to Fallout3 and others.

Favorite game of the 90s was "Blood" - anyone remember that one?

That's awesome. Nice to see some diversity in the gaming world!

I collect the 8-bit and the 16-bit era. (NES, Genesis, SNES, Master System, etc.) But I also pick up the occassional atari game to boost the family-shared collection, weither the game was good or not.

I used to do quite a bit of PC gaming during the late DOS/Windows 98 days (Carmageddon: great stress reliever.)

I kind of skipped over the N64/PS1 days. Not enough classic platformers as games gave way to blocky 3D graphics...just not eye-appealing. (However, playing Conker's Bad Fur Day at my cousins almost enticed me to buy a Nintendo 64.)

I used to play a lot of XBox with my best friend. Madden and Halo mostly. But I ended up buying mine specifically for Morrowind, which shaved 3 years off my life.

I own a 360 now, but it hasn't got much use since I finished Oblivion. It may not even get used again until Elder Scrolls V comes out.

I don't play...haven't since the days of Sega Genesis...my son has taken up the mantle though, in a HUGE way...he's a massive gamer...3 different Gameboys, PS1, PS2, X-Box 360, PC, PSP...he's all in it. I've played Guitar Hero with him a couple times...and I plan on playing that new Batman: Arkham Asylum (because of my ongoing Batman fanboy-thing)...

RPG Gamer definitely. All the Final Fantasy series. Right now, Warcraft owns me. I've a 62 level Arcane mage and a 65 level rogue. Both kick ass, but I prefer the mage due to being able to clear a room of multiple bad guys in a nanosecond.

And I can D&D it up anytime. Where's Vin Diesel when I need him?

You and me both, had I never spent so much time with my best friend and my cousin's friends.
