Tough. Who's responsibility is it to be up for the biggest gig of the year? They were all completely irresponsible and unprofessional. That's a glaring point, at least IMO, that one can make and take a look at Bruce and Journey last year. One played the big stage and prepared and did everything the right way, while the other played sloppy in the beer tents...with their lead singer not at all taking it seriously. Sorry Pineda fans, your boy looked and sounded awful on that special day. Cancel prior gigs on the eve of Super Bowl Sunday, arrive earlier than the morning of, and rehearse. Steveo, IMO you can't make an excuse here- they were all taking this non seriously and if they say they were, then forget them ever playing the Super Bowl's big stage, because frankly, they aren't good enough. They would need Perry to do it, and no, Perry cannot do it solo either, as he simply isn't good enough.

As for Bruce doing back to back? If anyone would it would be him, but they asked him for 14 years and he finally caved, as the band is in their final days. No way he does it again. He couldn't top l;ast years performance, which was the Game's best ever.

Bon Jovi is a logical choice, but they are so close to Springsteens music, and IMO gravy train off his lyrics, that the SB may wait a year to announce them.

My pick as to whom will get it?

Either Keith Urban or Rascal Flatts.

Actually, I can see Journey being considered for this thing, in all seriousness...and at least for a SSB guitar anthem

Deano, sit down because I'm about to agree with you. Bon Jovi has turned into a Springsteen rip off the last several years....and that is why they now suck. Having said that, they probably won't be the choice this year but they are definitely on the short list, so expect them in the next year or two. The other choices would be Beyonce, Madonna (has she done one yet?), and the next Madonna- Lady Gaga. Gaga is probably down the road also. She needs at least one more big album and the other thing is she is too weird. She would need to tone it down a little for the NFL. She's definitely in the 5 year plan though. So my pick would go to Beyonce or Madonna.

I would HATE for someone like Beyonce, Gaga, or Madonna to get it. Ugh.

My wish list for this year (and I'm trying to make it somewhat realistic):

Pearl Jam
Muse
The Killers
Journey
Chickenfoot
Kings of Leon
Rush
John Mellencamp
Foreigner

I get it, BJ is trying to be like Springsteen so they suck because of it...gotcha. Not engaging you with this. BJ hardly sucks, I was just saying two Jersey boys back to back? Naw.

It's a country act this year.

Urban is huge. Word is (from what I hear), is Bruce does Daytona 500 and Keith does SB, both huge draws.

Then definitely get Rush out of there. The only "Freewill" that Super Bowl fans know about is if they should get the lite beer or regular and if they should get double onions on their nachos or not. Can you imagine the reaction if Rush got up there and started working their way through "Natural Science?"

Admit it, it would be so NASTY to see them in all their splendor. And with Peart's colossal drum set, ahh..

Most Americans are familiar with Tom Sawyer, Spirit of the Radio, YYZ, and Closer to the Heart. Bang through those, mini-drum solo, America's happy.

I woulddn't be surprised if Journey got in this year, seems like a lot of fuss is getting generated with AP's success story. But I'm still wondering if U2 would do the SB halftime show. Looks like a lot of fuss is recently being generated about U2 as well.
I've never eaten a piece of sushi I didn't thoroughly enjoy.
