I support this too. But I did like that remake he did of that Isley Brothers song.
And we all know how I feel about remakes. I have a few exceptions though.

Truthfully, Rod is probably one of the few other than Perry who is qualified to do a soul album. You can hear a bunch of Sam Cooke in both of their vocal styles. That being said, I'd love to hear just one more original album of music by Rod Stewart. I can deal with cover albums for artists that use it as a stop-gap between releases, but when it's ALL that you release, I start losing interest fast. He keeps mentioning new material--I wish he would deliver on it.

no surprise. The covers albums are selling, while his last few original albums didn't sell very well at all. It's a money thing. As a fan though, I'd like new material--for obvious reasons.

Well, Rod's always done his fair share of covers, but never as blatantly as this decade. His cover choices used to be (reasonably) inspired, and meant to balance and blend with his own songwriting. Now they're just picking a theme and recording the first dozen songs they come up with, and people are stupid enough to buy it. No wonder the music biz is fucked.

Oh I disagree. People don't create music. Music finds people. We'll always be biased to the first takes. Doesn't mean the seconds or thirds are bad...just a different interpretation. I for one would love to hear as many interpretations as possible of all music.

Don't we all have our own little details of different songs?
Wouldn't we all love to add or omit something from every song we've heard?

There's no such thing as a perfect song, just a preference.
