Britney 'upset' over miming row

Postby Don » Wed Nov 11, 2009 6:24 am

As it's general knowledge that she lip-syncs, I don't see what the problem is. Now, if she was out there denying it/ trying to cover it up, I could see a problem. As she doesn't have one of those big microphones in front of her, I think she pretty much knows people will see that she is miming. You know what you get with her when you buy the ticket.

Britney Spears is "extremely upset" over reports fans walked out during her first Australian tour because she was lip-synching, her promoter has said.

Paul Dainty told The Australian newspaper the claims were "an absolute fabrication".

Australian media suggested some fans left after three songs due to Spears's miming and "lacklustre" performance at Perth's Burswood Dome.

A spokesman for the venue said it had received no complaints about the show.

"It's the biggest lie I've ever heard," Mr Dainty said.

"I'm so angry. We can take heat if there's something wrong and people can review shows badly - that's something you have to live with - but to say people stormed out of the show was an absolute fabrication.

"Britney is aware of all this and she's extremely upset by it - she's a human being," he added.

The singer has been at the centre of debate over lip-synching since she arrived in Australia last week, even though it is no secret she mimes during her show.

Virginia Judge, the fair trade minister for the state of New South Wales, ignited the argument by suggesting concert tickets should carry disclaimers about whether parts of concerts were pre-recorded and mimed.

Mr Dainty said it was well known parts of Spears's concert was lip-synched and denied the suggestion it was hidden.

"It's been all over the internet for nine months - this show is about an incredible spectacle, which it is," he said.

More than 17,000 fans, who had paid between AUS$200-$1500 (£110-£830) for a ticket, attended the first date on Spears's tour.

The singer is performing 15 dates across the country as part of her Circus tour which kicked off in New Orleans in March.

Too late. She already broke the first role, she admits to it.

LOL, this is the artist good ol Irving Azoff referenced when Journey was about to take this path. He said if Britney could do it, so can we.

She makes me feel like puking. I never understood her appeal so it must mean that the sheeple who like her have zero musical taste whatsoever. She became even more dispicable when all her laundry aired and it was revealed what a fucking psycho she is.

At least with Journey the band was actually live...with a few enhancements as ALL bands do...not the Spears tape machine rolling along...

She had severe mental problems. Have a little compassion. It was actually very sad once I realized how sick she was. To have your father given temporary conservatorship over you and your finances, when you're an adult, says it all.

Get this - amazing if this became a reality....LOVE the idea!!!!!!!!

Although Dainty claims Britney isn’t trying to hide anything, the singer’s lip-syncing controversy has inspired a few politicians Down Under to start brainstorming a new lip-syncing law.

The Fair Trade Minister for the state of New South Wales, Virginia Judge, said concert tickets should include a disclaimer warning fans parts of the concert are pre-recorded and mimed, according to Reuters.

"It is Britney's 'prerogative' to lip-sync, and it is my job to make sure consumers know what they are paying for up front," Judge said in a statement released by the government, according to People.

What do you think about all this drama? Would you like lip-syncing performances to come with a warning label? Personally, I agree with Spears’ Australian promoter who said the concert is “about an incredible spectacle.” Britney’s show isn’t really about singing but more about showing off dance moves, multiple sexy costumes, an impressive stage setup and the Circus’ backup dancers, clowns and acrobats.

Britney continues the tour on Wednesday with a three-night stand at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne followed by performances in Sydney and Boondall. The tour wraps up Nov. 29 with a show at Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Hindmarsh.

It's all about dancig and sexy costumes... not all that different than a stripper show. She should just go do that.

I don't really care either way, but if they did the disclaimer, at least no one could bitch about it. Seems like an ok idea.
