The show with Rik Emmett & Dave Dunlop in Dallas Friday night was fantastic! Rik still sings and plays great! He joked around a lot and is very funny, too!
I met the promoter, Don Wishon, who promoted the show on MR on the way in and he was very nice and welcoming....he did a great job of promoting too and Rik thanked him on stage. RE & DD did a few Triumph songs, a few songs from their new CD as the Strung-Out Troubadours called "Push & Pull" ...and some other great acoustic tunes.

Here are some of the songs that I took video of with my cell phone and loaded on YouTube. The video quality is TERRIBLE! I was fairly close to the stage but the vids turned out blurry......ugh! First time I've taken vids at a show and I have a new cell phone and didn't know how to zoom in...really didn't think they were coming out this blurry and far away looking, though. The sound from the cell is a little sharp too, especially when people were whistling. Sorry for the quality...you won't be able to see much of anything but you will be able to hear a bit of what they played....

On a personal note, I met some very nice people at the show. I sat by a woman and her husband and after talking she asked me to do some paintings for her. So, thanks not only for a great show, Don, but for it also leading me to a new commission! :D

Also, I'm sure this bit of info will interest many...
The woman that wants me to paint for her works for Sony and told me in conversation about music that Steve Perry has indeed been working on a CD BUT that it won't be out until 2011.
I don't know if this is true but she did give me her email to contact her about the artwork she wants me to do so I'll be talking to her further and it is a Sony addy. So anyway, take the info for what it is at this point and as Madsplash says....we'll see if she's right.

Yes, Rik was great! I really enjoyed the show. Thanks! As far as SP...all I know for sure at this point, is that when looking at her while talking she came across as very certain with what she said.

I should have included that she said she works specifically for Sony music and her email addy is such...not another division. She also very kindly offered to send the CD to me when it's done, as well as other music in the meantime so hopefully she is correct in all she said. I'll see. :)

Yes, he is...still sounds as great as ever, both as a guitarist and vocally. I was also impressed with Dave Dunlop's playing...he's very talented as well. They both had fun with it on stage and Emmett cut up quite a bit between songs. He's funny! :) The vids I took with my cell so sorry for the bad quality of them but you'll be able to hear some of it anyway. One little interesting bit of info I did get on vid is on the last one I posted ...in the beginning he dedicates and thanks the other guys in Triumph and is glad they patched things up...and he also says that in his opinion the greatest guitarist that ever lived was Joe Pass. I just think it's interesting to know who talented musicians admire. 8)

So very true! Saw them almost every time they came through.......at least 3 or 4 times. Always a great show! :)

Again, sorry for the bad video quality from my cell....it sure doesn't sound as good as it did in person either, but I'm glad you could hear some of it and there are other recent vids of good quality on YT to take a listen to. He does still sound the same. :)

I know what you mean. I had to drive almost 200 miles to go to this show and had planned to stay over but had something to do the next day so I drove back that night. It ended up being worth it though, since I got some business when I was there....and I hadn't heard some really good live music in awhile.
I'll also have to travel a bit to see TSO soon.

Rik Emmett mentioned that he thought "Joe Pass was the greatest guitarist thats walked the planet". I don't recall hearing him before so I was just checking out some vids. 8)
