Those IT guys are pretty intimidating and I bet they do get a chuckle from computer idiots like me. I hate it when you call the Help Desk and they take over your computer with the cursor zinging all over the screen, clicking this and that, although they usually do fix things. Since I had a laptop stolen from my office, now I have to put it in a locked place in my office. This caused me to drop it and now there's some weird wavy lines and the wireless card is jammed in so tight I can't get it out even with a pliers. Of course, they told me the last time they were there NOT to use the wireless card. I'm afraid to call the Help Desk...maybe they'll be nicer on Christmas Eve if I wait to call then. Maybe I should give them some spiked eggnog...

I liked the SNL piece!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

omg. is that real? I would have KILLED that guy!!

"You could get to the homepage? I thought you said the website was down?" *BLAM*

I can't tell if that's real or not (I'm suspicious of the "sex with vegetables" thing!) but if that was real, then what the guy does at the end is absolutely awesome.

L O L ! ! ! ! This is so perfect. For all the mass forwarded junk mail my unrepentant (but awesome) mom sends me despite all my warnings and please, I'm sending this to her. She called me tonight asking for help cleaning up her old computer to give to her elderly cousin. I asked her if she was finally getting a new computer to replace the one I've been telling her she needs to replace. She said, "No, this is my older old one - the one before that." I told her I would NOT recommend that -- it was designed for Win 98 and had been upgraded to Windows 2000 on 128MB RAM, and would neither receive security updates nor had enough power to run any current AV protection. She persisted and said, "Surely it can at least get on the Internet -- that's all she needs it for." I was trying so hard to be kind about it... LOL. But I told her flat out that as many infected web pages as there are, she'd have a virus within days and they'd be calling me for help. Good Lord, this hits home...

I squashed that problem by creating a folder and filtering everything that comes from my mom. I never even open them. All it is 99.99% of the time is CRAP that her brother forwards like "Don't let them take the Christ out of Christmas! Forward this to 6,000 people or your face will explode!" and lame jokes I've read 100 times.

And we can't forget the glorious internet/email urban legends - "Don't park your car on streets that have an E in their name. Car thieves are specifically targeting cars parked on streets with an E in their name. The ONLY way to prevent your car from being broken into or stolen is to park on Main St.!!" If I have to link someone to Snopes one more damn time, I swear...

But doesn't she ask if you read some of these tidbits, or doesn't she question why you don't send back the "hugs"? My aunt does, therefore, I read or at least open all of them and send her back the required message.

Hahaha that comic is awesome.

I too get junk from my parents/relatives. The unfortunate thing is that my family gets offended if I don't respond to everything they send me.

Count me in as one who has lived these as well...

I'm the one all of the extended family calls on when their computer "isn't working". I actually got cornered by my neighbor the other night as well. However, unlike family, I'm going to send him a bill...
