And is it better than LOTR?

LOL...that is funny.

Avatar is the most over-rated movie since the first Harry Potter movie. The story is average at best. The 3d is is good. But, I'd rather see "Monster's vs. Aliens" which ALSO has awesome 3d in it...BECAUSE THE STORY IS A BIT MORE INTERESTING. It is AT LEAST 30mins TOO LONG. The acting was average, and sometime pretty lame. The same with the dialog. It is no where near 'best picture of all time'. It doesn't come close to LOTR...unless you are talking about the lame cartoon from the 70's...then it's probably a bit better.

Avatar is a "good" movie...and is worth seeing and worth paying the extra to see the 3d. But, don't expect more then some scifi movie with lame characters and dialog.

The Road is my favorite film of '09.

Every single writer, director, artist, and musician rips off SOMEBODY.

There's not much out there that's truly original.

I thought the movie was great..

Agreed and the biggest offender of that is JK Rowling. Such a hack.

No...the guys who did Independence Day ripped off even more then Rowling.

That hack has one of the most successful book AND movie series of all time. And guess what, non of her fans care if she borrowed to create her story.

But then again, those fans aren't as "cerebral" as you, right?

Myself, I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but I do respect the entertainment value of her product.

Agreed. ID4 was dumb, but when I saw it, I thought it was nothing more then a fun summer big budget scifi movie.
