So I know all the stuff that's been said here lately about lip-synching and song stealing, well screw it cause Bon Jovi ROCKED the Staples Center last night!! And there was no lip-synching going on. The New Jersey boys sounded great and Jon Bon Jovi is hot.
It was a rough start for me though since I got downtown unltra-early thinking the LA Live complex would entertain me much longer than it did - mostly restaurants there. So I went to Rock'n Fish for a nice dinner, entered and "Born to Run" was blasting so I thought this would be good but man was I wrong - I ordered the halibut and for $21 all you get is a finger-sized portion, verging on sushi it was so raw, salt-drenched spinach and screwer veggies consisting of 1 mushroom, 1 zuchini and 2 onion slices...the bread was good but I didn't pay $21 for sourdough!

In general I hate opening acts and Dashboard Confessional were boring as expected, except when they covered "Summer of '69" which woke the crowd up. 40 minutes later, it was finally Bon Jovi's turn to rock the house.
The setlist was awesome with a mix of new songs from The Circle including...
We Weren't Born to Follow
Work for the Working Man
When We Were Beautiful
Superman
Broken Promises
Thorn in my Side
And old favorites...
You Give Love a Bad Name
Bad Medicine
It's My Life
Something for the Pain
Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
Lost Highway
Who Says You Can't Go Home
Keep the Faith
Jon was amazing with his rendition of Hallelujah...then when they say goodnight without singing "Livin' on a Prayer" some of the crowd starts getting up like they have no idea about encores - not to my surprise they reemerge with Runaway, Wanted Dead or Alive and the finale of, you guessed it - LOAP! I really enjoyed the show and forgot how energizing live music can be. Man it felt good to get out of my boring little world for a moment. Now I'm thirsting for more concerts to attend this year. So did anyone else from MR attend this show and have a review to report?
