All ABout My BJ Experience

Postby rockinfayrose » Sat Mar 06, 2010 1:31 pm

I had your dirty little minds going for a minute didn't I

So I know all the stuff that's been said here lately about lip-synching and song stealing, well screw it cause Bon Jovi ROCKED the Staples Center last night!! And there was no lip-synching going on. The New Jersey boys sounded great and Jon Bon Jovi is hot.

It was a rough start for me though since I got downtown unltra-early thinking the LA Live complex would entertain me much longer than it did - mostly restaurants there. So I went to Rock'n Fish for a nice dinner, entered and "Born to Run" was blasting so I thought this would be good but man was I wrong - I ordered the halibut and for $21 all you get is a finger-sized portion, verging on sushi it was so raw, salt-drenched spinach and screwer veggies consisting of 1 mushroom, 1 zuchini and 2 onion slices...the bread was good but I didn't pay $21 for sourdough! Anyway...Being it was my first time to Staples I didn't know where my seat would really be but was confident paying $135 per ticket it would be semi-close...wrong AGAIN! Everytime I go to a concert I end up spending 15 minutes moaning and groaning about the reality of crappy seats - and I was online as soon as the pre-sale opened to get these seats. Well, 10 minutes after a big $9 Coors the view wasn't so bad

In general I hate opening acts and Dashboard Confessional were boring as expected, except when they covered "Summer of '69" which woke the crowd up. 40 minutes later, it was finally Bon Jovi's turn to rock the house.

The setlist was awesome with a mix of new songs from The Circle including...

We Weren't Born to Follow
Work for the Working Man
When We Were Beautiful
Superman
Broken Promises
Thorn in my Side

And old favorites...
You Give Love a Bad Name
Bad Medicine
It's My Life
Something for the Pain
Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
Lost Highway
Who Says You Can't Go Home
Keep the Faith

Jon was amazing with his rendition of Hallelujah...then when they say goodnight without singing "Livin' on a Prayer" some of the crowd starts getting up like they have no idea about encores - not to my surprise they reemerge with Runaway, Wanted Dead or Alive and the finale of, you guessed it - LOAP! I really enjoyed the show and forgot how energizing live music can be. Man it felt good to get out of my boring little world for a moment. Now I'm thirsting for more concerts to attend this year. So did anyone else from MR attend this show and have a review to report? :D

Yes there was. I heard from a fairly prominent music guy that what you heard so nicely was thanks to Memorex. This band hasn't been live since Bill Clinton's first term. They are a piece of shit outfit, copying and stealing everything Springsteen does, and to top that off, they mime the show. Good riddens BJ. Man, how the mighty have fallen. What the fuck is up with these "musicians?" I used to be a huge fan..but man. they are a disgrace now. Don't believe me, ask Andrew Mcneice..He will verify their fakeness.

Haven''t they any pride left at all?

I think lip-synching is pretty cheap I grant you that but it looked like the real thing to me. When ever did Jon do "Hallelujah" before this tour? Literally you would have to wonder if every concert you see (except Bruce) is real then? I love Bon Jovi songs so I'm mixed on this. I had a good time at any rate.

Faye, open your damned eyes. First off, Bruce isn't a god or a saint.....I know, hard to believe, eh? Anyway, Hallelujah is a tough song to sing. JBJ is no Justin Timberlake or even Arnel Pineda. I am just saying, ...no fuck it..the beers have kicked in. Is it just me who can't fathom the fact that these fuckin "rock stars" have to resort to cheating. Man, baseball players cheat and the nation is in an uproar. College students cheat, and they get expelled. However, Jon Bon Jovi lip syncs and he has defenders. WTF?! Why can't fans see through the stage fog and call these once great bands out? If it ain't live, it isn't real, and if ain't real, it's bullshit. God help me if Springsteen ever lips. I will be on his ass like cheap toilet paper..you know, the kind that sticks to the wet areas...and eventually falls off and you find specks of it in your shit stained underwear when you take them off for a shower. You all know what I am talking about.

My underwear has enough holes in them...Hell, they look like Swiss cheese. Probably all the farting. My California Whitesnake is peeking through one of the many holes. It's embarrassing.

Wow, great additions.........don't often see those 2 in the setlist. Haven't heard those in a while......a couple favorites. Hmmm, just may have to check Jovi out again when they are here in July. :)

Gawd I remember taping this performance off tv many years ago, mainly for that tune Something For the Pain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6ElQRyfENk :)

Some Day I'll Be Saturday Night has always been a fave, just a great tune. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1tu1TWRT5g

You're saying that Bon Jovi lip syncs their whole set show after show? Where's all the comments and debates about this? I find it hard to believe. Not that it hasn't happened. I believe more on occasion do it than people realize.

Piece of shit outfit? Ha. I love Bon Jovi for what they are. Bon Jovi's voice isn't the greatest, though, and has never inspired me like other singers, but on occasion he can knock it out of the park vocally with songs like Bed of Roses, and they have written some great rock songs. But what a great live rock band. And Richie makes it for me.

So what you're saying is you won't care if maybe they're lipsynching or, if not now, have done it regularly from what Deano is saying? You love them anyway and will still follow them. Hmmmm, sounds like some Journey fans who still love Journey, even after the Augeri tapegate.

Well, naysayers, I am getting the boots from the Anaheim show (last week), and Staples(last night). The person giving them to me says you will know instantly that the songs are exactly the same. The same playlist save for 3 songs were played. This is sounding a lot like three years ago.
