New Router to "Forever Change the Internet"

Cisco made headlines today announcing a next generation router that will revolutionize the internet by increasing downloads to unheard of speeds. The Cisco press release makes the following claims about the CRS-3 router:

It enables the entire printed collection of the Library of Congress to be downloaded in just over one second; every man, woman and child in China to make a video call, simultaneously; and every motion picture ever created to be streamed in less than four minutes.

Tech Ticker interviewed Kelly Ahuja, Cisco Senior Vice President and General Manager Service Provider Routing Technology Group about the new product this afternoon. He answered all our questions but one: When will consumers be able to take advantage of this new high speed internet? Perhaps that's because that part of the equation is up to our internet service providers. Until they upgrade it might as well all be a dream.

This is as said worthless when the ISPs aren't providing the matching speed. Few years ago I remember a Swedish guy creating the fastest Internet ever for her mom. It was a super fast connection (40Gb/s) where she could download a full HD movie in less than 3 seconds !!!

And you forgot to bring up the fact that speed isn't going to matter if your computer has one foot in the recycle center grave...all that power would probably just make my crappy Compaq explode

actually that's not completely true. All you would need is just a compatible network card and you could see the speed difference clearly when surfing the web or downloading songs /movies.
Besides , theses days you can easily replace your old computer for under $1000 with a decend computer , But it's not as easy or cheap to upgrade the speed to what this router is intended for

I bought this piece-of-junk brand new Compaq laptop for $350 in 2007...guess you only get what you pay for I hate the Windows Vista it has also. Sure would be nice to know what a faster than the speed of light connection would be like

I'm pretty sure your receive speed will be limited by:

*Your ISP's connection to your home ("last mile")

Unless you have a direct fiber connection, after which you'd stille be limited by:

* Router throughput speed
* Your computer's NIC (network card) throughput speed

I know this has nothing to do will routers but it does have to do with my crappy computer again...I'm typing a Word Document right now and the cursor is skipping all over the place as soon as I get a rhythm going, then the word goes into a previous line and messes me all up...This keeps happening everyday and is driving me nuts I went through adjusting all the mouse settings and all that, but still is happening. I was just hoping someone who reads this may have a suggestion...pleeeeeeease

Are you using a wireless mouse and keyboard? If so, try different batteries. If that doesn't help let us know.

Are you using a wireless mouse and keyboard? If so, try different batteries. If that doesn't help let us know.

I'm using a wireless mouse with my laptop - changed the batteries yesterday. Would this problem be solely a mouse problem? Damn it keeps happening even when I type this Could it be all the times that I bang the mouse against the table when my computer freezes or I read a post on MR that angers me
