I agree. Most women usually earn a good beating on their own but animals can't even talk back! where's the motivation for violence there?

:lol:

Nah, that's not what I'm saying. It's just that (Oh, I know I'm gonna catch hell from the ladies & maybe even a few of the men) but it's just that, to me, humans are better equipped to do something about the violence, to retaliate or escape, move in with a relative, go to a shelter, press charges -- SOMETHING! But an animal? What can they do? Especially if they're chained to a fence or in some other way restrained. They're loyal ....more so than humans at times. They have no idea they're being poisoned or starved. They don't understand why they're being beaten or forced to fight till the death. A human can understand all of that. He or she may not agree with the reasoning behind the abuse, but they understand what is happening & why, even if the "why" is b/c the abuser is a lunatic. It's comprehensible to a human. I hate hearing stories on the news about animal abuse & neglect. And I can't even watch that ASPCA commericial with Sarah McLaughlin. You all know which one I mean.

I love pets as much as the next person. I've always had at least one my whole life. But, the key difference is they're fuckin animals, not humans. I will never equate an animal's life with an innocent human's life.

We are also animals, and we are less innocent than those "Animals" you speak of. Jason makes a good case of that. We have our own minds and form our own opinions, animals go by instinct and react by what we train them to do. Pets love us unconditionally, but humans have their own agenda.

Humans =/= "innocent"

Matt, I always look at it this way. What if there is life on other planets(which I think there is) and they visit here. Come to find out they are exponentially more advanced than us in ratio to the way we are to the 'animals' here......and they treat us philosophically the way you view 'animals'...how would you feel about that?

Why not? Why are humans so much more worthy of preservation when we are more screwed up than animals that can't calculate their violent acts like people do? A pet has the intelligence of a toddler human child. Abusing a pet is on the level of abusing a child imo.

So you're telling me someday if you have a kid and a dog... the best dog in the whole world, you love it as much as any human could possibly love a furry companion, that you will love it and protect it equally to your kid? That's fucked up!

Good lord our society is so deep in the shitter... we're never getting out.

How would that be fucked up if I was protecting the child equally too? I would never let either one starve, or be physically abused etc. A dog does not more deserve to be neglected or abused just because it can't talk and go to school and eat with a fork.
