I'll always remember Jody Stephens, drummer of Big Star, giving me a tour of Ardent Studios in Memphis back in the 90's and autographing a Big Star poster for a friend of mine. Sure would have been cool to have met Alex and was considering seeing Big Star perform in Memphis in May.

Big Star...legendary, highly acclaimed, pop-rock alternative band. Groundbreaking band. The Mats (aka The Replacements) drew big-time inspiration from Chilton and Big Star.

Never knew who he was, though...

Alex Chilton was also the principle member of the Box Tops.
