Here are most of mine:

THORSTEN KOEHNE Shreds

DANG, I wished I'd filmed the whole thing. This was pretty much the second half of an incredible solo with a lot of variety. Check out the Van Halen homage!

DANGER DANGER - "Under The Gun"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baoY46_IKMg

TERRY BROCK w/VALENTINE - "Where Are They Now"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTsqXpx1GaU

The most amazing thing about that is that he is playing a right handed guitar left handed. In other words the strings are upside down!

Does anyone have any video of Alias playing? I'm interested in how Freddy Curci is sounding these days. Thanks...

posted on the main board...

Into the Fire

sounds pretty good to me, even though he ducks the falsetto part near the end... That said, the song is somewhat low range for him.

Someone made that same observation in my YouTube video -- was it you? Funny, someone else at the gig pointed out he was a lefty, and now on top of that he plays the guitar strung up like a right-hander. My boss does the exact same thing, and I just don't get it, LOL. I kept thinking it would be physically impossible to position your fingers into full chords if you had to do it backwards, but now that I think about it, can they? Maybe it's not such a change. Still, it's freakin' weird and blows my mind! Thorsten RULES!!!

Freddy's still GOT IT!

Postby mrsromek » Wed May 05, 2010 11:10 am

Freddy sounded amazing to me. He still hit 99% of the notes, in my opinion. I will say this, though...he seemed a bit 'awkward' in terms of meeting fans. I have met well over a few hundred musicians over the years, and only a handful have acted like he did. I'm not sure if it's because he's been out of the limelight for 20 years, has gained 150 lbs since the early Alias days (self-conscious), or just flat out doesn't like interacting. I am sure a die-hard on here can comment on my perceptions. Nonetheless, I did enjoy telling him how the girl I dated in HS and I would listen to Alias on cassette all the time. He turned to Steve at that moment and said, "see what I mean?"

Maybe a combination of all the above. At least at one point, he was fairly chatty on his website's message board. May have been nerves, concert-related (voice, mix, etc), personal things, or just simply shy. You didn't happen to ask him if he's working on new material per chance? For someone to have that good of a voice, he sure hasn't released many albums.

Thanks for the info folks! That's great that he still sounds so good. There's a acoustic performace on youtube from a few years ago that was officially released and featured a number of different singers singing their hits. Freddy sang More Than Words Can Say and he sounded really good but he did struggle at some points but no complaints here. He's been through alot...I can't wait to see some video from MRF 2!

There's also a live performance from the same time where his voice was cracking horribly on that song when he got towards the higher ranges (we may be talking about the same performance). That said, sounds like he was on form at MRF2. Too lucky...

This is Ted Poley's solo band and they actually closed with "Stone In Love" Sorry for my audio quality. They sounded SO much better than this live! But my camera was right near the speaker to the left, as you can see, and I was picking up too much guitar or something. You will see Eric Ragno on Keys and then the lead singer from Talon also joined in. And SOMEONE can tell me who the other guitarist is too??? Very fun!!! Anyway, here it is:

Too bad you didn't get video of Poley booting the drummer off the set and taking over. Fucker was a really good drummer, too! I looked it up and he was a drummer before becoming the lead singer of Danger Danger.

Yeah, the speaker was in the way of showing the actual "booting" but melissa took the camera so she could get him drumming  That was really cool!

I did! I got a video of Kip Winger saying hello to my wife and sorry she couldn't make it to the show. Watched it closely and noticed he winked behind those blue tinted glasses after saying hello! But I promised I wouldn't put it on the Net. :)

Did you like my story, btw?
