Level 6 Rafting trip in Colorado

So my brother signed me up for this...I've never rafted in my life and according to Wikipedia it sounds like a nightmare!
has anyone else ever done this level and if so what the heck?

I'd leave this one to the guys, unless you're an extreme adrenaline junky. Level 3 or 4 would be fun.

Level 6 the first time? I think you better take along a pair of Depends! Naw. I've done a level 5 and it was pretty wild in places but a whole lot of fun!

These are level 5 and are pretty wild. It does look fun, but I still probably wouldn't do it.

rafting can be fun...but personally, I wouldn't go much past Class 3 for the first time. The higher you go, the more experience you need, and the more important it is for everyone to "carry their own weight". On lower rapids, someone skilled can compensate. When you get to the higher rapids, you need everyone working as a team---and you can't do that if you don't know what to do.

That's true. If someone isn't an experienced paddler then they really shouldn't go over a 3 or 4.

Call the tour operator and talk to them about this; I seriously doubt they would let you go on a trip such as this with zero experience; not exactly at the level of a brotherly prank as you could die or get someone else killed.

FUN!! But level 6?!? Yeah, that is for someone w/upper body/arm strength
and some experience, you'll get tired quick!!

If you like it get some more river trips under your belt before attempting anything more challenging.....4 is going to be wild enough for the first time. I would also suggest doing some form of paddling on a regular basis if you get into it. As someone mentioned you have to build upper body strength,...overall conditioning is needed too, imo, to have the stamina for longer runs.
Make sure your life vest fits properly, stay aware, keep your balance and have fun!

I wouldn't worry much. Class 4 rapids can be pretty wild--especially if you haven't done them before. If you have never done it before, class 2 is enough to give you a rush--Class 4 will be an experience. Prepare to get wet and have a lot of fun!
