Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog (Saw a cover band tonight)

Saw 3 Dog Night in concert tonight. We stayed for 3 1/2 songs. :D

Fortunately the cost of admission was included in our county fair tickets.

Were they always that bad?

They were all over the radio when I was a kid.

Simple- Cory Wells and whats his name forced Chuck Negron out. He sang many of the hits like Easy & One. He was still singing recently. 3 Dog Night is 2 dog might, Foreigner is the Mick Jones Show, Styx is Tommy Shaw & J Y trying to be relevant W/O Dennis DeYoung, Survivor is Frankie Sullivan thinking he can replace Jimi Jamieson & Jim Peterik . Journey is another has been bunch that has to pkg themselves with 2-3 other bands to keep on earning. Notice how much new music has been written because these former members( singers )were also writing, All these guitarists think they are the band ! NOT !The bands that are still huge are Aerosmoth, Bruce, & BonJovi. All the singers ,but Perry, still do shows. I will pay to see those singers and have the last few yrs.

Foreigner is doing pretty good considering considering Lou Gramm got a very raw deal with his health and affected his voice as a result. They aren't getting any help with promotion, but the band itself seems pretty solid and putting on a good live show. Styx seems to be self-combusting from a ticket-sales perspective, and the current version of Survivor is pretty much a train wreck. Frankie Sullivan would be better off with Dave Bickler like he was in the 90s, but I seriously doubt Dave would go back.

Journey is doing pretty well considering, and probably doing as well as they have since reforming. I don't think Night Ranger was selling many tickets at all by themselves to that last tour. They put on a good show, but weren't getting much reaction at all from the crowd....who later exploded when Journey hit the stage.

Squirt - I agree with you that Three Dog Night aren't the same without Chuck (one of my favorite singers ever). But Cory Wells is (was) a fine singer also, Danny Hutton not bad but I never liked his stage mannerisms (weird). To answer the original 'were they always that bad' question - NO! Watch some of the Soundstage footage on YT, that was a great concert for it's time. I remember 'stealing' my older sister's Harmony album and playing the crap out of it. Some of the best harmonies ever in their heyday, and some great songs - but geez - that was 40 years ago! Cory Wells is 68 years old. They should have hung this up years ago, especially with no Chuck.

I thought Chuck Negron had drug addiction issues that it took him many years to get a handle on. You can't run a business with
an active heroin addict on board. Anyway, maybe it was a bad night, but I felt the harmonies were sour and they were even out of
tune.
