maybe, but I stand by the point that they would be irrevalent to the music industry had they not moved on from that sound. The fact that they are still selling albums and selling out large venues means the majority of the fans DID move on from SWW/NJ--or they picked up a fair number of new fans to replace those that didn't move on.

Every band deserves to grow and evolve their own sound. My beef if that Bon Jovi is cranking out low-quality s*** and people are eating it up, just like McDonald's. Neither are healthy for you.

I agree. It's not really that they move with the times and try to stay current and leave their earlier sound. It's that still most of their songs sound generic and nothing new or fresh no matter which genre they're trying like country-rock, save a couple of songs here or there. I agree with you, they need to bring in new songwriters to jumpstart their stagnant creative process.

Familiar?!?! Perhaps, but I love it ... the melody and the lyrics.
It does sound like something that would have fit "The Circle".

BJ puts on an incredible show, nice mix of the old hits and new material!!
They are not dependent on their DD to draw the sheople!! This current tour is
selling out shows in large venues and in most cities a second night has been added
Having local bands open for them is brilliant!! They know how to
endear themselves to their fans and draw in new fans regularily!!
The last tour had Daughtry opening for part of the tour, he rocked, but
BJ were clearly the stars, still!!
They have made some very brave moves in their careers, moves that could've killed
a lot of bands. But they just keep on keepin' on ...
That said, I like the idea of a little more rockin' from these guys, like they do
LIVE!!! Richie, where are you ^^^^here ...too minimal for my taste.
Outside help in the writing dept.,could be a move in the right direction, they
don't strike me as a band afraid of a challenge. I would love it if they went back
to their rock and roll roots ...What Do You Got, BJ?!?

Boo-hoo. A band that in this decade has put out same amazing songs.

2000's "All That You Can't Leave Behind" was brilliant. To me, one of their best albums ever, and it was released in their third decade in the biz.

2004's "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb," very, very good album. Love it.

2009's "No Line on the Horizon." not the same ol same ol. Hate it or Love It (I love it), they weren't doing another album by the numbers.

These guys are still creative. :D
2004's song Original of the Species (sigh) - Beautiful video and the song is poetry to me - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq9wxCgNjL8

Nah. They're a really great band, and there's a reason they draw huge crowds. Love me some Richie. But their albums as a whole are lacking these days. It never hurts to bring in new blood on songwriting when you've been together as long as they have to get the creative juices flowing or change the dynamics of the process.

Their great 'songwriting' lasted about as long as their treasure trove of stolen cassette tapes from unknown acts lasted....I'm surprised Also Nova didn't haul their asses into court after they lifted the keyboard riff from 'Fantasy' for 'Runaway'...lol. it is a well-known industry fact that Jon and Ritchie stole rifts, melodies, and lyrics from unsigned acts...there even a guy on heavyharmonies that has firsthand knowledge of the repeated musical larceny....have been trying to locate the thread since this thread stared....unsuccessfully, or course....

Start a new thread at H.H. to see who can produce the info. There is no statute of limitations on ripping off other artists in my book, so I'd be more than happy to beat them up over this. It would be just payback for having to listen to a decade's worth of crappy Bon Jovi singles.

Are you sure you're talking about the song "Fantasy", though? I only remember the extended opening (with helicopter) followed by the main guitar riff. Excellent song btw, as is "Monkey On My Back". I used to have another Aldo Nova album called "Blood On The Bricks", but I can't remember it grabbing me at all.
