All it would take is ONE show like this in the States...and it becomes a yearly event. ONE.

Well Amdrew has tried twice now, quite admirably. And still it is a huge struggle. But Rocklahoma was good for a few years as well as couple other yearly festivals so I guess you can say it worked for someone.

Bonfire is an extremely boring band. Other than them, I would love to see that show.

I'd rather have an American equivilent to Wakken.

Yeah, I'm missing this festival for the seventh year in a row (DAMN!) due to finances and/or other things always getting in the way.

I've known the people who do this show for over a decade now and they've got a solid reputation in the industry for for being among the best to work with and for delivering what they promise. Last year was supposed to be their last effort, but they've decided to give it another go... I keep praying that I can finally make it out to one before they call it quits for good.

S2M - you are fighting a losing battle. Most people on this board know fuck all about music. Check any music related post and most get less than 5 replies. If you want to talk music go to the Noticeboard. If you want to talk about fairies, comics, horror movies, guns, gay people and gods then post here.

I'm beginning to see that...I like talking about the aforementioned topics, but realize this is a music site first and foremost....I'm about to give up on suggesting music to people...it is a losing battle, and any good card player should know when to give up on a losing hand when you are drawing dead....

I think the problem is that the US is too spread out, where Europe is fairly compact. Travel in the US isn't exactly cheap any way you look at it, and there is no one centralized location.

Still, it's a great show and the return of Strangeways should be pretty impressive.

I think a lot of it is that the people that visit the regular site never even know these boards are here. Took me YEARS of coming to the site and posting on the noticeboard to ever come over here. Maybe that will be addressed in the site upgrade. There is a lot of great music out there, but it's not being served on a silver spoon anymore, and most people won't actively seek it out.

I'm probably the only one that responds to Sean's threads and that's usually just to tease him about Kansas' "In the Spirit of Things".

But, if you remember, Andrew created these boards as a place for the over-jealous fans of certain bands to post and not clog up the Noticeboard.

America would NOT eat this up. Without hundreds of dancers, AutoTune, and someone to tell us what we're supposed to like, America is just lost. Guitars and loud music scare us...
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Crowd shot from Firefest V by Dennis from White Sister ... near the end he says, "Let's show those fuckers in Los Angeles how it's done!"

I have TWO work conflicts this year; otherwise I'd be there.

The music scene here is just too trendy. That being said, metal and hard rock have made somewhat of a comeback here in recent years.

Glad you're experiencing that. In Seattle we are not experiencing that much. Music is just crap these days. I know I sound like my parents, but there are so few good things to listen to anymore.

Well, I'm talking about here in the States in general. Bands like AC/DC, Rush, and even Avenged Sevenfold have had chart-topping or near chart-topping albums.
