I don't understand US Politics.

I quite liked Brywool's Birthday thread. It had cake in it.

It's the complete lockdown on Journey bashing. That's whats done it.
Minus the Photoshopped bukkake baths of band members and puppy roasts, I think the battles of old brought a lot of color to this forum. Of course, since Journey is now a "World Band", I understand the need to be P.C., to a point.
Everything runs it course, and we don't have any idea on how many headaches our antics have brought to the admistrator here over the years.
The problem is, there can be no middle ground with Journey, especially with the race card being kept in the hole when it comes to heated discussions of AP. Do we let the site go and continue to be called racists and bigots or do we refrain from all criticsm until the place morphs into just another fan site for one 'Mr. Arnel Pineda'?
Decisions, decisions.

Deano provided a lot of that. He had a way of bringing it out of other forum members. It may have been the shock factor or whatever, but it was better than death warmed over.

I understand the need to be civil. But if it makes the forum go sterile, is it worth it?

This forum has always had busy periods and quiet periods since I joined.

I joined it when I first got internet access and I was looking for info on Steve Perry to find out where the heck he disappeared to after Trial By Fire.
There was no press coverage of Journey over here in the UK.
So I googled and found this place.

Then when I had read the threads for a while and discovered Deano, TNC, NIG, StJohn, McNeil, Styxman etc etc I was hooked.
Logging in here regularly to read their posts was addictive. Like a ringside seat at an insult slinging match.
MR became like an exciting book I couldn't put down!

Then the fights got really bad, then the fighting got more tame and now it has quietened down again and some of the vocal characters have disappeared to be replaced by new people, but the bulk of the regulars are still here and MR is still a great place to log in and have a chat with cyber friends I will probably never meet.

I love this place.
Busy or not busy.
Calm or chaotic.

Ditto, Susie! LOL, think I have a soft spot for TNC and Yulie, they probably make me laugh the hardest, especially TNC at some of his descriptors just thrown in threads. L'd-MFAO at one of his captions a few years ago, I still remember it. He posted some caption to a picture of Neal's guitar face comparing it to his granddad's expression when the nurse comes at him with a garden trowel at the nursing home (or something like that). The caption and pic couldn't have gone better together, it was hilarious! I remember Dave (CPC) did a thread a while back with a bunch of funny quips from MR peeps, wish I could find it, was great! Do you recall that thread, Dave? Or what it was called?

There is some extremely funny, and extremely knowledgable music people that post on MR. :D

TNC scares me a bit.

So do yulog's crazy pics!

Deano used to scare me until I saw that video of him in a child's football helmet chugging watery beer and belching.

And where is WIX???????

I just love all of you here.

Pretty much sums it up. No disrespect to Andrew. He's done a great job, and tolerated a lot of crazy shit.

The funny thing is, the forum was the busiest when it was unpredictable and out of control. With that off the table, the misfits and loons don't get to be as dysfunctional and it becomes very predictable.

Maybe it's me. I enjoy a good dose of lunacy now and then. Like a thread entitled "Journey Announces Steve Perry Comeback" and when you open it, there is a picture of Steve in pimp suit with Friga sporting a huge set of knockers. Is that just me?

Carry on.

Let's face it, (ourney is the reason for the success of most of the other forums here. And truth be told, the nearly obssessive care for Journey has died. I don't think people really care so much now. There may be interest in news, but it used to feel personal before. Not anymore...thus the change in priorities and where /how we spend our time.
