New Two Fires

I've had a listen to the new Two Fires cd Burning Bright and have had the following thoughts:

1. The Storm was damn good
2. Ramos has as much soul as anyone and gives Schon a RUN for his money
3. Chalfant is as good as anyone now ... and arguabily in the past
4. The new Two Fires cd has some good material
5. The Two Fires band is does not cut it
6. Ramos is the friggin man and is a KEY part of the Two Fires
7. I'm glad to hear new music from Kevin but fuck only knows he needs Josh back!

Small Memo:

The Storm's debut Cd was killer....The follow-up was not as good, but still classy stuff...and his first solo album(Running with the Wind) was awesome!

All the rest of Chalfant's stuff has been lame, including:

707
Vu
Steelbreeze
Two Fires
Shadows Fade
Shooting Star
Fly to Fr33dom

I thought the first one alternated between killer and filler. Sounded like two different bands between the Rolie songs and the Chalfant songs. 2nd one was a quantum leap forward in consistency. Still one of the highest ranked albums that I own.

yes. Very under-appreciated. Perfect reason for a solo album also with a style that would not have fit with The Storm.

generally speaking, VERY patchy. 707 had one or two good tracks, The View (or VU) isn't surprising that it wasn't released at the time. Some of the Two Fires albums were decent. First one was very patchy, but the 2nd one had some good songs under a "production" where I have heard better sound from a live bootleg. New one sounds good, but songs not quite as strong as #2.

They work the best together. Wasn't all that impressed with Ramos solo. Chalfant is a great singer. Ramos is a great guitarist. Neither of them is a great songwriter (though Chalfant is the better of the two)--which is where they need Rolie, and the main reason why Two Fires never came close to the quality of The Storm.
