It was a very cool sight though. I googled it, and it's very rare. They say it usually only happens in late winter/early spring, and is most likely to happen around the coast where warm ocean temps mix with the incoming snow.
We've had a very strange winter here in S.C. this year. We got several inches of snow on Christmas for the first white Christmas since 1887! It's all that damn global warming.There have been records broken all over the world this winter. I think it's because we're heading into the next man-made Ice age. Damn SUV's!!!

I've seen it a few times here in Wisconsin. Usually in February and March.It's very cool when it happens except it usually means it's snowing like a bitch outside.
