Hi Everybody
I know this is kind of late but i managed to catch 3 of the jovi shows on the australian Circle tour.I flew from Sydney for the 2 Shows in Melbourne.
Let us start at The Rod Laver Arena In Melbourne.16000 crazy maniacs sang to almost every jovi song. This is the reason why people keep coming back to see this band. They give the fans what they want to hear..Jbj was on fire from the moment he appeared at the other end of the arena on a small platform to open the show with The Last Man Standing. From there on it was the usual suspects,Bad Name, born to be my baby,we werent born to follow,In these arms(great crowd pleaser)and a tonne of hits.6 songs were played off the circle album and the best of the lot had to be LOVES THE ONLY RULE.That closed the set.In between the set, keep the faith, have a nice day and a rocking bad medicine with a medley of pretty woman and shout had the place going bananas.
An encore of Dry County ,Wanted and Liv On a Prayer made this show one of the best Jovi shows i have ever seen. The melbourne crowd didn't stop all night.2hrs and 40 mins later more than 16,000 people went home very satisfied.9/10.
2nd night.Etihad Stadium,Melbourne.
This was an indoor stadium.50000 fans packed in to see the Jersey Boys rock Melbourne one last time.Staging was twice the size of the previous night and it was interesting to see how the boys would perform.
Started off with Blood On Blood,Great opener. The set list was changed .12 songs were replaced from the previous night. The circle album was represented with 2 tracks while Lost Highway had 4 tracks played this night. The previous night only 1 song was played from the LH album.
What a noticed pretty quickly was that some songs just don't work well in a stadium. The Lost Highway songs fell flat.Even though We Got It Goin On rocked the house. It took the melbournians a good 40 mins or so to get into this one.I have never been to BJ show where it felt flat from teh start but this was it.Thank god Jon brought in Runaway and that lifted the crowd. No Aplogies from the greatest hits cd also worked well considering it's a hit here in Oz.From there the crowd got louder and louder.A great version of Raise Your Hands almost ripped the roof off the joint and the following songs of Have A Nice Day,Keep The Faith and Livin On A Prayer had the place going crazy. The acoustic set in the middle was great too.
An Encore of Always(2nd biggest song of the night) Wanted and what a way to finish.SOMEDAY ILL BE SATURDAY NIGHT made sure that the boys made up for it after a slow start.I gave it an 8/10.Thought the start was slow but if they played another 20 mins i think i would've given them a 10.They came home firing on all cylanders.
Sydney Night 3 .Coming Soon.Hope you liked my review. In my opinion nobody comes close to these guys live.Sure there are better players,Even better singers. But these guys have got something that i have never ever seen from any other band. That's to play flat out for 2hrs and 40 mins and to have the whole arena or Stadium standing is unheard of.By the way no guitar solos, bass solos,or timewasting drum solos.Thank god for that.
