How do you feel about classic rock bands re-recording hits?

I feel like it is wrong to even touch these classic works of art!

Survivor "High on You" is always on my playlist...the 80s music skipped over me but when I heard this song on VH1 Classics a few years ago I had to get it...he has a beautiful voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4m1_c_ZKGc

As for re-records, I guess it depends on who...I never listen to Journey re-recorded Classic hits. Why? I played it once just to see, but it's obviously SP for me (not as good as the original).
Now, there is a certain band I like that has had different singers and I discovered them because of the second singer...I love his voice and I don't love the original singer's voice so I definitely wished they had re-recorded (I only have a Live concert DVD)...which is why I can understand Journey's different singer's fans.

There are many covers of songs (could be the voice, emotion, arrangement) that I love more than the original but for the most part I always prefer the original artist.
