Movie night........

 Heavy metal guitar solo on American Idol, who woulda thunk it?! 8) Love the song James chose. LOL saw that movie more than once back in the day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79-NyaVTQWc

Anybody know who that tall guy with the black hair is, that they panned to at the end of the song, looked a little familiar? :?

Loved James' performance, and loved that he stuck to his plan and didn't listen to the advice from his 'mentors' - I can't stand those 2. And for those about to jump in and say he screamed - well, it was metal 8) - I thought he did a great job. Didn't like any of the others, except maybe Stephano a bit - he was much better this week than he has been.

Those judges are afraid to criticize anyone - especially Tyler - it's pathetic sometimes.

Now back to OT hockey - Caps and Rangers. And as I'm typing, OT is over - crap, I was pulling for the Rangers. Double crap, now I have to change the channel and watch the Canucks .

I agree with you on the 2 tonight. I like Lauren too, but just wish she would just bust loose one of these times. I think she's got a great strong rock voice in there. I wasn't impressed with Paul, Casey or Scotty at all. Yet the judges raved, you're right. I'm not a country fan, but I do love that song by George Strait, can't believe Scotty even tried to touch Strait!

I thought Hayley sounded awful (that 'growl' is getting really tiresome), and I don't get the raving about Jacob either. I think one of them should go.

:?

Am I the only person here who just isn't feeling James? I understand he's not horrible & he's definitely a performer, but how does he compare with other rockers from AI? Chris Daughtry? Adam? IMO he's not even as good as Allison Iraheta (remember her?). I'm waiting for a "Slow Ride" moment from James, and so far it just hasn't happened.

I also wasn't that big on Pia. Another really good singer, but she left me rather cold. In that way, she reminded me of Catherine McPhee, who was, in my opinion very likely the very best singer to ever appear on the show. Great talent...lacking warmth & depth.

I almost think the sleeper this season might be Jacob. He doesn't seem to be on anybody's radar. Clearly a gospel guy. And we all know gospel music is the equivalent of the singers witness protection program(once you go there, no one will ever find you). Still, always a good solid performance.

Loved that! Those two nailed that........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3P7rqMeMVI Curious to hear the new album Lambert is working on now, more rock than glam. I think he's got some killer rock chops on the right songs. I think Adam has better vocal chops then James. Routing for James this year though, I love how he puts his everything into his vocals, always emotional after. Ahem......Deb's favorite verb when it comes to singing......emote.........hello?!

Nice performance by James tonight:

The rest just don't do it for me - I'm finding Haley's and Casey's growls and grunts a little tiresome, Scotty sounds the same all the time, Lauren is good but too young and not much confidence, and Jacob - I pretty much just do something else when he sings.

My thoughts exactly on all of them. I wish Lauren had more confidence, if she would just let loose she could nail it, she's got a killer voice in there if she would just let it come out. Would love to see her do something other than country and maybe throw down a Heart song or somebody like that. Loved the soft beginning of James' song.

Can Casey really have a jazz career? Really? I'm not sure. He's not THAT good.

What is all this fuss about Jacob? I am just not hearing what other people hear.
And rock screamer guy is just average to my ears.
I can't even remember the girl's names. One is like a beauty pageant contestant - age 7 but trying to look like a nubile temptress.
The other has a lot of potential but her mentors aren't using it or bringing it out.

Scotty gives me the creeps anyway. That far too deep voice plus the creepy hands curling around the mic like a tarantula make me shudder.

Yawn.

To be honest, I am bored stiff with this show now.
The judges are just saying the same words over and over. Boring.
