Justin Hayward had said last year how the labels really only want DVDs and live albums from the older acts as they don't have faith in new material actually selling. Joe Elliot's been begging for a Wal-Mart deal since forever. Luckily, Leppard has never done a complete live album release before or maybe this exclusive doesn't happen.

Heard "King's of the world" yesterday, one of the new release's. A lot of Queen influence in it. Never took off like I thought it would though. "Undefeated" is a better tune. Now, Andrew, what did you think?

Used to love Def Leppard.One of the first albums i ever got as a kid was Pyromania for my birthday in March of '83 pretty much right after that album exploded.Photograph,Rock Of Ages all over MTV.Waited four years for the next album which was an enternity back in the 80's for a band to wait between albums.Loved Hysteria even thought at first that album almost slipped until they released 'Pour Some Sugar On Me'.Waited another five year eternity for an album very much like Hysteria and i liked it but not as much as Hysteria.Got Slang back in the mid 90's and liked a couple songs on it but seemed like they were trying to fit in with the grunge and at the time i hated that.Well its been about 15 years since Slang and i finally dug out three albums from the 80's heyday.listened to High N Dry,Pyromania and Hysteria last night and those albums were their best.i think a lot of bands that were so loved in the 80's made that mistake somewhere in the 90's of trying to fit in or sound Alternative and thats where they ended up confusing the fanbase.Loved Steve Clark on guitar and once he passed away it wasn't the same.

Trying to think which acts have actually pulled it off...
The Eagles last disc sold well. Journey's Revelation was a hit, but was coupled with the hits, so that doesn't count. I think Loverboy's last was also a Wmart exclusive, and didn't chart at all. Anyone else? Did Bruce do a Wmart exclusive?

I think Bruce did a walmart exclusive with a greatest hits package and was greeted with backlash from a lot of his fans. That was hilarious. The millionaire liberal troubador and hero of the blue collar masses had to backpeddle and pretend he didn't know what walmart is all about.

The Eagles and Garth Brooks are really the only acts that blew up by being exclusive to Wal-Mart. The Eagles last album moved at least 3.5 million packages (Officially 7X Platinum with RIAA Math) and then, there's Garth Brooks who has sold over 20 million discs exclusively through the retailer.
Looking at those numbers, even AC/DC's Black Ice (2 million sold) and Journey's Revelation (800,000 sold) might be considered a bit of a disappointment (for the store, not the band's themselves).

The exclusives for REO and Foreigner really didn't go anywhere at all, neither selling more than 300,000 packages.

Springsteen's Exclusive Greatest Hits Package was another dud but that whole release ended up as a cluster fuck anyway with Bruce embarking really on an anti-marketing campaign once his fans called him out for going that route.
