Oceanographers are aligned with climatologist on this issue, since they have the data to prove the ocean's temperatures are increasing at unprecedented rates as well.

Really? Please find me ONE article written by a sanctioned scientific body or any peer-reviewed scientific article written in the past 30 years in which a climatologist claims we're about to embark on another Ice Age.

Ice Ages are a normal part of the Earth's climate cycle - ask any geologist who has studied core samples or just look it up in a first year Geology textbook. Here is an article sent to me by a friend whose first degree was in Geology:
http://english.pravda.ru/science/earth/106922-0/

As for claims of a consensus among scientists regarding man-made global warming, that is a false assumption. Here are the 4 Parts of a seminar given by Professor Bob Carter of James Cook University (Queensland):
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOLkze-9GcI
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN06JSi-SW8&feature=related
Part 3:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCXDISLXTaY&feature=related
Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpQQGFZHSno&feature=related

Professor Carter is a paleoclimatologist who has studied Earth's normal climate cycle over a range of millions of years and anyone who narrows their focus to the last 100-150 years has absolutely no clue of what they are talking about, like Al Gore. If anyone is interested in reading an alternate opinion by a highly respected expert in the field, his book is called Climate: The Counter-Consensus. Here's a link to his biography and it's a lot more impressive than most:
http://members.iinet.net.au/~glrmc/index.htm

I believe it was in this thread last autumn when I posted an article regarding a computer break in at Hadley CRU and the posting of hacked files and e-mails. They demonstrated how data was altered and numbers were changed in an attempt to erase the reality of the Medieval Warming Period, as its existence was a strong argument against man-made global warming. It also demonstrated that there are many who follow that theory like a cult and there is a very real movement in the scientific community to quash any scientists who would try to refute man-made global warming. Some of the repercussions have included cut off of funding and blacklisting from publishing in respected scientific journals, which is the kiss of death for a scientist's career.

Unfortunately, we can no longer state that certain data or sources are irrefutable or can be trusted blindly, because we have seen how those with a political agenda will violate every doctrine of science to force their own beliefs - especially when there are billions of dollars at stake. Science is in many ways akin to a religion and it is the human element that screws up the equation. But there is no such thing as a theory that is "not debatable" because we are always learning and adapting that new knowledge. To state otherwise is insanely arrogant - the greatest minds of science would never have achieved major breakthroughs if they thought they already knew everything.

You've got zero room to accuse anyone of lying. When you get caught in an outright lie and asked for a source, not only do you fail to produce it, you have the nerve to reiterate it as fact. Zero credibility.

Ice Ages ARE the norm. Roughly a 100,000 year Ice Age and 20,000 year interglacial warm period, which we are well into. And lots of ups and downs in between. All of recorded human history has been during the interglacial period, making some people falsely believe that the weather during this period is what it has been throughout time and will always be without human intervention.

Whatever. You're so full of shit. Limbaugh was on the dole for years. If you expect me to have a link to his confession (in his own book), find it yourself. You're the most outrageously far-right nutjob I've ever encountered. Call me when the shuttle lands, shit for brains.

I couldn't find anything in a brief search I did. If all you can do is parrot something from sources like Media Matters, Olbermann, etc., perhaps they are not as accurate as you'd like to believe.

What impact is the Iceland volcano going to have on global temperatures? Is it spewing gases in addition to the ash as well? If so, how does it compare to man-made emissions?

I honestly don't know.

At its worst, the volcano could cause a significant reduction in temperatures over Europe and Western Asia for the next 5-10 years.

Earth's current warming trend could bring deadly heat for humans.

A new study that looked at reasonable worst-case scenarios for global warming found that if greenhouse gases continue to be emitted at their current rate, temperatures could become deadly in coming centuries.

The IPCC consensus on climate change was phoney, says IPCC insider

Lawrence Solomon June 13, 2010 – 8:50 am

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change misled the press and public into believing that thousands of scientists backed its claims on manmade global warming, according to Mike Hulme, a prominent climate scientist and IPCC insider. The actual number of scientists who backed that claim was “only a few dozen experts,” he states in a paper for Progress in Physical Geography, co-authored with student Martin Mahony.

“Claims such as ‘2,500 of the world’s leading scientists have reached a consensus that human activities are having a significant influence on the climate’ are disingenuous,” the paper states unambiguously, adding that they rendered “the IPCC vulnerable to outside criticism.”

Yeah, a few dozen experts and enough mindless drones stupid enough to parrot them!

You guys are too funny.

Hulme and Monkton are currently being investigated by multiple agencies "because [their] own ideological reasons persistently and deliberately misrepresented and manipulated historical evidence and known science".

http://www.dailycamera.com/ci_14167354#axzz0fH7L17zO

The Trenberth Report to which these idealogues (Hulme and Monkton) are referring unequivocally also states the following:

"It is absolutely certain that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and produces warming, despite Danaher's wishes. Without carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, Earth's surface would be some 32 degrees Fahrenheit colder than it is now. Increased carbon dioxide will increase this warming effect, and both theory and observations are consistent with this fact. The evidence of this happening is widespread and abundant, so that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 2007 was able to state with unanimous agreement from all of over 100 countries that global warming is unequivocal."

For Pete's sake, guys...there are innumerable models that prove that climate change at least COULD be caused to a significant degree by mankind. There are no models that prove otherwise.

Just continue to blindly toe the company line, believe what you're told to by your hatemonger-rampant party, and sleep like a baby while the world burns. We'll take care of it for you.

Dude, anyone who refuses to budge an inch despite overwhelming, irrefutable, cold hard scientific fact and instead chooses to latch on to the coat tails of the occasional disgraced or non-peer reviewed non-climatologist is a sheep.

You're just wrong here, man.

Here we go again with the "peer-reviewd" crap. I'm peer reviewing myself and humans produce about .011 of the Earths Carbon and that equates to kicking out about 10 people from a Journey Concert with 10,000 in attendance. Why would you deny those 10 people another chance to hear "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' again?

I'll say this - it's frickin hot in Minnesota tonight.
