I have lots of different musical tastes (ok except country). From Mr Big to Bruno Mars and everything in between. But hey, had a 15 year MB dry spell there and when one of your favorite bands finally re-unites ya kinda lock into it. As they're touring and making records again, they've got my attention. There have only been a handful of rock records lately that have grabbed my attention.....and thankfully have heard of the few right here. LOL, our musical preferences differ vastly. If the vocals don't grab me first and foremost, I'm just not interested.........and you, well, by some of your choices you couldn't care less if the lead vocalist was any good even. :P  Anyways I don't want to turn this into a Mr Big debate.............it's about rockin' out in your car (to any fave music). Nevermind, ya cumudgeren, your not the type to just cut loose and bust a move while your driving, are ya?

The difference between you and I...I don't need my singers to be Enrico Caruso. I don't need my musicians to be virtuosos, or claim that they are. I'm more than satisfied listening to bands like Autograph, Signal, Unruly Child, Harem Scarem, and Adriangale. Beyond the obvious preference aspect of this - I just find NOTHING interesting about Bruno Mars, or Mr. Big. or that Partland Bros. debacle you posted the other day.

Personally, I have a tough time wrestling with whether I even care if anybody listens to the same music I do. The ONLY reason I sort of care is because the more people that listen to it, the more of a chance I get to see the band in concert. Otherwise, I'd rather my music be on the DL. It's rather sad when U.S. bands would rather tour EUROPE than their own damn country. That's not only sad, but pretty damn insulting.

Pretty sad that Harem Scarem's never toured the U.S. - and they're from Canada! Pretty sad when Enchant, who resides in Concord Ca. would rather tour Europe than head the the East Coast and do a few shows(been on their site, talked to the band personally). I've even got into heated arguments with Ed Platt(bassist) over it.

Also pretty lame that Lana Lane, another of my favorites, and also resides in Concord - would rather tour Europe and Ca. than anywhere else in the U.S.

You make fun of my music like it is some K-Tel compilation of Nursery Rhymes. Fact is, you have a very limited taste for anything outside your core group of say....35 bands....and you probably would say that you really don't have the time to check out anymore. :?

I realize that there is a preference, and taste element to most music. But I've gone from Kiss to Hall & Oates to Break-Dancing Music to Melodic Rock. I've pretty much stayed in the MR genre since about '89. I've amassed quite a collection, and know quite a lot about the genre. I'm not as neurotic about Journey, Jss, or the other offshoots to speak deep on them. But as far as MR groups I can MORE than hold my own. I just like the stuff.

Just trying to get the word out about some bands....and it's like trying to teach pre-schoolers about covalent bonding

Neither do I. On second thought yeah maybe I do, great pipes are by far my favorite instrument.......I will full on admit if the vocals don't grab me first, the music or rest of the band doesn't stand a chance. Just happened to luck out to have 2 virtuosos in the mix. BTW neither of the 2 claim that they are. Pretty humble dudes. If their peers and fans deem them to be 2 of the best out there then that's different. I listen to other bands too, just not on a full catalogue basis.......I'm pretty picky......for the most part if a band has an underlying bluesy rock groove I'm more locked in.

I feel your pain on this one. For the most part, alot of my favorites play overseas more than the US. :( Wrestle with that one myself. I would love my faves to be more popular in the US, but on the same note I loooooooooove that I can see them in a more intimate smaller/midsize venue, than I would have to see them in the larger venues if I lived overseas. I couldn't be more thrilled that they are not packaging up like a few others for the US leg of their tour......selfishly digging the longer sets, more new songs and deeper cuts. :D

BTW, maybe if you were a little more open to "Journey, JSS and it's offshoots", you may have seen two of your favorites live too. Both Enchant and Lana Lane (along with another band or two) opened for JSSB a few years ago in San Fran and actually I was quite impressed with both, Lana has a great voice, and really liked Enchant live. Had never heard of either one before that.

I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I agree Rick...Mr. Big starts the South American tour today in Chile, and saturday I'll attend the Sao Paulo show, so I promise to keep Deb busy with all the information about the show...BTW, I'll freeze there, I'm expecting about º5 C (º41 F) on saturday. It's too cold for who lives in a city like Rio de Janeiro.
