The "Song Stuck In Your Head" Remedy

Postby JRNYMAN » Fri Jul 22, 2011 7:12 am

Dontcha hate when, for whatever reason, you get a song stuck in your head in a continuous loop?! Happened this morning. Flipping through the presets on the car stereo. Tuned into one of my stations in the middle of a VH tune and right as I pulled into a parking space that tune ended and "Middle of the Road" came on. I heard maybe 10 seconds of it before I turned the car off and got out. Then, for the next 6 hours.... you get the picture. :D  :P The only remedy for this situation, for me anyway, is to listen to the song in question from start to finish and then it just seems to magically clear itself from my thought process. The weird instances of this "syndrome" is when it's a song that you're positive you hadn't or couldn't have heard but for some reason BAM! there it is.

Since I don't own any Pretenders albums (not sure why this is since I've always liked them.... Hmm....) I watched a vid on YT of the band's DVD performance titled "Loose in LA". I ended up watching 4 or 5 videos from that show. Chrissy Hynde hasn't lost a thing over the years. The band's performance was tight and sounded very good.

And just so that I don't become guilty of setting you up with a song looping in your head just by mentioning its title, here's "Middle of the Road". Surprisingly, Chrissy misses her cue for the first line but handles it like a pro.

They say that if you have a song stuck in your head that you can't get out of your head, that if you sing the song out loud it will supposedly help get it out of your head.
