Ahh, nice to get away to the Shore for a day, downing a few brewskies at the Hilton Beach Bar in Atlantic City while enjoying all the scenery on a BEAUTIFUL DAY.
And inside: A Whitesnake show to cap off the evening! A few years ago David Coverdale had to stop a concert mid-show since he was having vocal issues. But he's back in full-on scream mode now...maybe a bit too much at times.....I enjoy his howls and screams but he seems to be overdoing it a tad on this tour(IMO).
And I notice several of the songs are now down a tone or two in key, which took away from their impact(again, just my opinion...).
At the Beach Bar, I met a contractor named Joe who was not a huge Snake fan but was meeting a woman there he met online who was. They were going to attend the show together. He asked me if any of the 80s Snake members, like Rudy Sarzo or Tommy Aldridge, were still present, but I told him it was just Dave left from the 80s grouping.
Trim and tanned and with his long curly golden locks and shirt open to the navel, 59 year old Dave still looks very much as he did 25 years ago.
New Jersey boy Brian Tichy was introduced by Dave and Brian poured a bottle of water over himself after an energetic drum solo. Dave apologized to Brian's father, who was somewhere in the audience, about Brian's "drinking problem".
We also had the one two punch guitar dueling of Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach(ex-Winger, Night Ranger and Dokken). But I noticed several patrons getting a bit restless during this. One guy I heard mutter and shake his head..."drums solos, now guitar solos..."
In true Dave fashion he commented on the very "fine racks" of several of the girls down front and gracefully accepted the gifts passed up to him: flowers, a flag and a bra("Oh, and it's nice and MOIST too", Dave commented).
I enjoyed classics like Give Me All Your Love and the newbies he did, like Forevermore and Steal Your Heart Away.
