Coming This Thursday In Texas

Postby KenTheDude » Mon Aug 29, 2011 11:15 pm

This will become law in Texas on September 1st:

Abortion clinics will be required to show images of the fetus and make the woman hear the heartbeat before she has an abortion. Just wondered what you guys thought of this new law?

100% support from me. I hate abortion, the thought of killing a perfectly healthy unborn child just because you don't want it makes my blood boil. Maybe this law will change a lot those women's minds by establishing a connection between the her and her child. There are a lot of couples who can't have children and want to adopt so there is no reason to have an abortion.

I see no problem with this either, but it's easy for me to say since I'm a man.

While the intent behind this law is coming from a good place, I wonder if the long term was even considered. The official foster care system in this state is running 26k strong (this does not include those who are wards of the state placed with private firms for adoption). Who, may I ask, will house/feed/provide medical insurance for the children born as a direct result of this new law? Also, I question the forcing one to view something "after the fact." Our school systems focus solely on "just don't do it" sex education - despite us having an incredibly high rate of teen pregnancy and child birth. We can tell teens that til we're blue in the face, but if we are honest with our adult selves, we KNOW a minority will heed that advice.

Quite frankly, it's akin to putting the cart before the horse and we really should focus our efforts elsewhere on this issue. I'm curious as to how many of those who fully support legislation such as this, participate in foster care, big brother/sister programs, or otherwise assist in handling the direct needs of those born to mothers/fathers who simply don't want them - but feel they must "birth" them due to societal pressure of right versus wrong? It's easy to say you support something, it's another story to actually step up to the plate and get into the trenches when something like this is made law.

How about the government offers free 50" 1080p plasma, LCD, or LED big-screen TVs in exchange for free, voluntary vasectomies and hysterectomies to any willing adults? I guarantee you our problems in this area would significantly decline. Certain demographics would eat this shit up, and they could fuck like the animals they are with no consequences for society.

Free Birth Control would be the right idea.....plus they kept saying Texas is broke, yet this will cost the state millions...

They would probably demand that it be at least 3D.

It's really, really gay. If a woman wants an abortion, then that's her prerogative. The proper thing to do was to stop making sex out to be something dirty and shameful for teenagers, and give them a decent amount of knowledge about it and let birth control pills and condoms be a lot easier to get hold of.

That's Texas. Maybe they should change their motto from "The Lone Star State" to "One Big Contradiction"

Still cheaper in the long run! Hell, throw in a state of the art 6.1 system to go along with it!
