I generally don't say it. I have to take issue with sneezing not being a perilous activity. I've sneezed so hard before that I've actually felt my entire left side go numb and throb with pain for 5 to 10 minutes![]()

That's why I get antsy every time I see someone repressing a sneeze - you can seriously damage your sinuses and eyes doing it. Sneezes come out at up to 300kph - that's a lot of force to redirect internally. Sneezes have been known to trigger strokes and aneurisms, burst blood vessels and dislocate jaws. Dangerous activity indeed!
As for the original post, I very much doubt this is the full story. I'd guess this is one aspect of a discipline issue with the kids deliberately disrupting the class in ways they think they should be able to get away with it - "I was just sneezing" "I was just saying bless you" - but the reporter has picked up on the one aspect to make a better story.
