I will die in this house!

Postby Rick » Sat Dec 03, 2011 12:55 pm

That's what I told Debbie yesterday, because I'll never, ever move again.

Debbie found a house she wanted, so we moved into it this past week. I found out how many friends I don't really have.

Debbie wanted to live in this area (North Richland Hills) so Neelee could go to Birdville High School. And equally, she didn't want her going to the high school she would have gone to if we hadn't moved. She's in the 9th grade, but in her school district, that's still junior high. Strange, I know. We're going to let her finish out her year at the junior high instead of transferring her in the middle of the year though.

We were going to hire movers, but we opted just to do it ourselves, since we had a pickup to use, plus we have to pay the apartment people for breaking the lease. That's gonna hurt. The "do it yourself" moving thing is a good way to save some money, but I can not remember the last time I was this sore. My god, everything hurts.

Debbie and Neelee are two amazing people. They worked their asses off. They engineered a very organized effort, with well marked boxes and did most all the packing. They packed up the stuff that we don't need every day and we were able to move that stuff ahead of time, over the past week. Crunch time was Tuesday and Wednesday, and I had help from a couple of guys from work to get the big stuff, and that all went extremely well. We got moved in completely at about 10:30 Wednesday night.

I'm putting a huge stack of empty boxes in the attic in case I decide not to die in this house and move again. If that happens, please, please, someone shoot me dead beforehand.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Congrats Rick!! :) Moving is definitely one of the most stressful things to do in life! We are in our 3rd house, and vowed this is our last!! Well, at least until we are old hopefully! One thing that will surprise you is how quickly over time you fill the added space! Moving would be a nightmare in our house! Enjoy!!! It'll be so worth it! :)

Rick, hope you enjoy that new house, bro! And I hear ya... I don't ever want to move again either, and couldn't comprehend what it would take if I had to.
