Steve Lukather's "All's Well That Ends Well"...

I just bought Lukather's "All's Well That Ends Well" on Itunes tonight (FINALLY). Any opinions here about the album? I loved his last album, but the clips I heard on this sound pretty jazzy to me. I hope I like this one as much as his last.

He SERIOUSLY needs to work on a new Toto release with the band...

Any word Andrew? Don't make me fly out there to kick your wombat nuts. If you know something, you need to come clean.

From what I've heard, I like "Ever Changing World" better. I still have a few songs to go through first. I'll listen to the whole album before I render my opinion, but I LOVE me some Lukather!!! I hope he surprises me.

The news sucks about Toto though.

I don't frigging understand it!!! They have a shitload of fans, have Joe or Fergie that could kick ass on a new album (for a VERY limited time), but aren't working on a new Toto? DAMMIT!!! :cry:

Yet, he records solo albums? Weird.

As for the album, I liked Ever Changing Times better. The songs were stronger. The Letting Go, I Am, New World, Jammin with Jesus, Ever Changing Times... all fuckin GREAT. All's Well is solid, but I just never dug it as much as ECT.

Adding new stuff wouldn't stop the need for Hold The Line to be played!

It's all about economics. Solo albums are his doing and he loves doing new music. Toto is a bunch of guys and a different beast all-together. Maybe he thinks there isn't any call for new music - so let's give a shout out for some. I'll ask him.

Id give ECT and ALLs Well albums a tie in my favorite Luke albums. I am excited that he is going to continue doing solo stuff, i'm sure the next one will be top notch as well. I'd love to see a new Toto album, I'd even settle for a Toto EP, something would be great.

Is the reunion over already? I didn't even know that. Or are you saying the ORIGINAL Joe era was halted, thus not producing enough original material in the first place?

Original era. Joe is still in the band and covering the hits (barely).

Ever Changing Times I prefer. When I first got All's Well it was such a slow grow with me I put it away for a long time. Just pulled it out for a car trip a couple of months ago and now I really like it. It's definitely awesome. We are going to see Luke at the Baked Potato in a couple of weeks, it will be the first time I 've seen him there sober. The amount of booze I've seen him drink at those shows over the years truely disturbed me, and again, thumbs up to the man for finally getting grasp of it. I actually have a running comedy routine amongst my roomate and even my mom (she went with me as well) about the infamous Steve Lukamouth shows we used to see there. These routines always end with tons of laughter, the guy is a riot! . "This one goes out to Britney's smelly panties"!!!!!!!!!

Lol!! Thanks for sharing. I have to say though, I'm listening to it right now, and I just don't like it as much as his last album.

I hear ya Jim, it kind of depressed me at first, it starts slow and has some kind of morose moments, understandable because of the divorce and I put it away for almost a year. It's wierd putting stuff on the shelf sometimes improves it on the second chance. I really dig it now, but it doesn't stick in my thoughts the way Ever does. I usually start my comedy routine just saying (David Letterman announcer style) Steeeeve Looookather over and over again and we are on our way with silly Luke stories. Makes us laugh every time!

There's something else that is missing from All'sWell: Drummer Abe Laboriel jr. His amazing parts are a key ingredient in the sound of Ever Changing and I really missed his driving snare sound and the way he drives the band on Alls Well.
There's a reason he's a top in demand session drummer and he is Beatle Paul's drummer. I'm not knocking Eric Valentine, those were some big shoes to fill.

Considering Paich was the main creative force for most of Toto's career, I don't see why Toto and Luke's solo albums couldn't co-exist. There's definitely a demand, even if it's just the diehard audience...maybe he thinks Toto has to have a mainstream smash hit for it to matter. Sigh.

Personally I liked ECT better than All's Well, but...different strokes. They're both great albums. and "All's Well" even had a (somewhat improved sounding) vinyl release.
