Van Halen Sample

Postby Memorex » Sun Jan 08, 2012 6:16 am

I realize it's only a 30 second snippet, but that sample linked on the front page, in my opinion, kinda blows. I kept wanting Dave to hold a note longer than a tenth of a second. It was kind of like a bad Rap song.

I'm sure the album is good, but I am pretty underwhelmed by this clip.

I think the 30 second clip musically sounds boring.

I like Eddies nasty guitar sound, but you're going to get about 4 notes out of DLR, as his range is about that these days. I'm still excited about the album, and I actually like that clip. While DLR may only have a half octave range, he's got a damn good rock/blues singing style.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I have to say that after hearing this clip, I'm thinking "this is the song they think is the STRONGEST for this album??? Holy shit!!!". :? Andrew, please tell us you've heard the album, and that it's better than this shitty clip??? I have been fooled by clips before, and who knows how well this clip is indicative of the actual song quality. I just hope after all these years, that the album sounds better than this. :?

Could DLR ever sing?

That question doesn't even need to be asked. He sucks...But it works for VH. Period.

That's how I see it. Surprised they went with a mid tempo song as the single. Way too short for me to judge it. Looking forward to the hearing the whole CD. Kind of wish they would have recorded "Let's Get Rockin'" from the Simmons demos.

It's like Geddy Lee with Rush. Definitely not the greatest singer in the world but works for that band's style.

Hearing the full song now - Dig it. That sound sample was the wrong 30 seconds to play. Very vintage sounding. Huge sigh of relief.
