DLR - still the showman! The song? Not incredibly impressed, and it's still hard to imagine a real VH reunion without Michael Anthony, but hey... DLR still steals the show. :)

This one works!............I like it, sounds good, its catchy and has that playful side of their last album together. i'm hopeful that they have some heavier stuff as well. 8)

I like it. Brings back shades of yesteryear done fresh with DLR as the front man and EVH's crispy old-school riveting shreds. Catchy, too. Sounds like classic Van Halen to me.

Thanx for this; watched it.

EDIT: My thoughts:

1. Liking the acapella "tattoo, tattoo" - you KNOW that's DLR.
2. Dave...Dude - at least TRY to line up your lip-synch with the Backing Track!
3. Liked the tight shot of Dave & Ed - very nice.
4. Noticed that they did NOT focus on Wolfie in the wide pan-shots.
5. Couldn't help but notice - Dad got Wolfie a Bass Guitar with the red-and-white design...hmmmm...
6. Loved Eddie with the short "brush cut" hair...WTF happened...?
7. WHAT'S UP with keeping the other Camera-Chick in the Shot? Is this Bon Jovi's "Bad Medicine"...? :?

Overall, pretty good. Glad they got Dave back. 8) \~/

wow..much better than I thought it would be. Don't know why they're using synths in the background, I'd take a heavier bass line instead. Very catchy, sounds like classic VH to me. Dave's range is shot... but hell...it's not about the vox anyway.

Awful. Bring back Gary Cherone.

Lackluster. A "refurbished" song that was much better in its original incarnation. Ed's solo should be its one saving grace, and it's a ho-hum solo. DLR's vocal chops deserted him long, long ago. They should have hired Steve Martin.

Come to think of it: have DLR and Steve Martin ever been seen together? Roth looks a lot like him now.

I'll say it again: "One I Want" became one of my fave VH jams, up there with "Push Comes To Shove," "Drop Dead Legs," and "Get Up."

I'll never understand why EVH didn't seek out Jeff Soto. :?: Ever since I heard him with Yngwie Malmsteen's band, I thought he'd be a great fit with the VH sound. I still think its weird he ended up singing with that other band.

Without Anthony's backround vocals, it sounds like something from one of Dave's solo albums and not one of the good ones. Anthony is as much a part of their signature sound as any of them. Not his bass so much, but those killer harmonies. NONE of the Great VH tracks would sound the same without it. Eddie and Alex need to wake up to that. Nothing against Ed's kid, but they need someone in there that can nail that sound. If they can get someone besides Anthony that can do the vocals, great, but without those, it's nothing special.

THIS was a good move for Dave. He shoulda stuck with it. Great album. That kicks some A$$.

I saw some clips on YouTube from their tour last time with Dave. Dave seems so ... 'Vegas' now and definitely does in this video. There's no "Swagger" from him, just this weird smile and very hokey dance moves and ... sashaying?? Dave used to have a very cool rock-ness to him. I heard a clip on the radio from their club show the other night. Dave went on and on while onstage for ten minutes about the gig. Eddie must've wanted to kill him. Eddie looks unhealthy again. I could't believe when I saw him a few years ago all cleaned up. he looked great. Now he looks like he's crawled back into the bottle. Musicially, it's okay. Chorus is cool, but the b verse leading to it shoulda been rewritten.

jeesh...man...when I take my music serious, it's Rush...and sure as hell not VH! VH is all about the beers, bars, and simple rock with a pumping pulse and some killer axe moves. VH is still capable of delivering that. Yah....I sure as hell miss MA's vox, but dannnng....that WolfBoy can run circles around MA as far as bass chops go. He's improved dramatically the past few years and I am looking forward to seeing that come through in the live shows.

I was under the impression from other reports that Eddie was doing all the bass on the actual album.

Really dig "She's the Woman". Probably because it comes from the early years. Tatoo, while a decent catchy tune, doesn't do much for me beyond being catchy.

Anxious to hear the full package, to see which way this thing goes. 1984ish or Fair Warningish?

That doesn't surprise me since he's played bass on albums before (Sammy's "I Never Said Goodbye") but it makes me wonder if they're not too confident of Wolfgang's abilities.

Check out the bass work in this vid. Cmon..wolf is rock-fkn-solid! Technically he's punching some riffs, chords, etc. The bass work during the bridge at 1:30 is killer.

Wolfgang seems to have improved on everything by leaps and bounds. As far as the backing vocals, I don't really care; It's usually canned live anyway.
They could have just brought in some session singers off of the street if it was that important.
Was never a big fan of the Van Hagar era where they seemed to be trying to be more like Journey and Foreigner.
I last saw them on the Hide Your Sheep Tour in '82. This song has a bit of the sound that harkens back to their "don't give a fuck" days before they tried to be pop stars; I like it.

Hey Tex- I wasn't commenting on the bass, I was commenting on the lack of VH signature sound due to the vocals. The bass parts on VH albums, many were played by Ed. I'm not knocking Wolfgang AT ALL. I'm saying I miss those backup vocals and without them, it sounds like Dave's solo stuff and doesn't give me the "Wow it's Van Halen!!) vibe. VH IS party rock. No question there. But Dave looks like a dork now. He didn't before. It's not the shorter (badly transplanted) hair, it's his whole stage manner. Check out some of the live vids from the last tour, he just looks very "Vegas" to me. Loungy. Hey, I LIKE Van Halen and I like the Dave years over the Sammy years, though Sammy was the better singer. DLRVH just has "that THING". To me, it's missing in this song and the video. I think that they should get a backup singer to do Mike's vocal parts.

Keep them off stage too, just like they did with Alan Fitzgerald on keyboards back in the late 80s/early 90s  . Never understood the backstage thing. Just bring them on stage, introduce to the crowd, and jam. Way lamer in my opinion to have a musician off stage playing. People just think you are using tape then anyway.

Rocker Eddie Van Halen has donated 75 electric guitars to Los Angeles-area high schools as a way to inspire music in kids.

Tricia Steel of the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation says the Van Halen lead-guitarist came with the brand-new guitars this week, saying he wanted them used in schools and not sold.

The non-profit Los Angeles foundation has distributed the guitars to seven schools serving mostly low-income students that needed them to replace broken instruments or build music enrollment.

Schools were not told where the guitars came from until they arrived, and then they were advised to keep them under tight lock and key.

Did they have a blonde scarecrow in tow when they were delivered to the schools?
Oh wait...wrong band, wrong guitarist.

Yes Fitz did backstage keys a few years back with VH. And by the way, as far as complaining about Dave's moves now: i I thought Dave was as fit as any Formula 1 driver when I saw them in 07 . Let's see how well you move when you are almost 60.
