I have seen youtube clips of his tour last year and it seemed like he had power in his voice, but he did tour a lot last year and he's 48, so probably had off nights. Where I really noticed his voice changing more was his last album Committment, but I think it might just be the generic nature of many of the songs, so cookie-cutter adult contemporary, unlike his previous albums which showcased his songwriting more and different shades of his vocals. Though there has been some degradation to his voice compared to years ago for sure. Trevor Horn brought out the best in him, not David Foster. He must have really heard the fans' complaints about the last album and Foster and made up with Trevor. All this angst in his marriage will probably bring back the great songwriting that Seal has showcased in the past.
I didn't buy his Soul I cover album, because it didnt interest me. But it sold 3 million albums worldwide, so the label wanted him to do another one. I did buy his Soul 2 album that just came out yesterday because it has '70s and '80s soul/R&B covers of some great songs and he brought back Trevor Horn to produce the album with David Foster doing some of it with Trevor. I love this album after only several plays. Seal is in top form vocally.
