Fuck - status...hahaha...HOW ABOUT JUST THE FUCKING MONEY?!?

I remember this scene all too well from Fight Club

" God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables – slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won't. We're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."

Life's a bitch, ain't it? Part of wisdom comes from learning who you are, and what you're capable of in the process. Stop buying into all the trite, pretentious and superficial advertising, movie and MTV lifestyle BULLSHIT and work on being humble, thankful and true to yourself. Things will happen over time, and if you have any semblance of soul, you'll find your way. Hang in there man, in this country, with a modicum of intelligence and emotional intelligence, odds are in your favor, there will be good times to come.

peace

Better to have a goal at age 21 and follow it if you want to really clean up. I never knew what I wanted to do and just went with the flow. Had fun chasing tail and partying (which never affected my grades which were Magna Cum Laude in college). However without focus you just fall into something. I do well, but will never be rich. Comfortable living, some nice things and a wonderful family.

My real advice is to shut the fuck up and stop making lame posts like this. Get motivated. Find a mentor who you can pattern yourself after. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and take action now!

Archetype wrote:I'm literally so bored with my life that it's actually painful. I feel pain as a result of boredom. I'm sick of college. Sick of my town. I just want to magically become super marketable overnight and land a nice job and begin to enjoy life. I have no goals, no aspirations, nothing to work towards. No idea what I want to do with life. I just fucking want money and toys. How does one rig the lottery system?

Boredom doesn't cause pain.
To me boredom means I'm so free that there is nothing I have to do or even want to do so I can completely relax with my boredom and enjoy it. It also helps me realise how much I enjoy the simple pleasures life has to offer and sometimes that may include boredom. Becoming super marketable overnight and landing a nice job is no guarantee that one will begin to enjoy life. Boredom isn't painful its the wanting life to be other than what it is that causes mental suffering and pain.
Boredom can also be a great motivator...... use it!

Your at the time of your life when you want life to start full force and it hasn't yet. This is normal. At 21 we want to take the world by storm, but most lack the funds or the abilities to do so. So a frustration starts. My son is in your boat, but after going to collage a year and finding out it was not the answer to this restlessness he is taking more in stride now.

Sometimes you just have to understand it takes time to accumulate all the good things in life.

You are just starting off on the springboard of adulthood, enjoy the time when you are not saddled with heavy responsibility and enjoy being young. It is brief enough is it not? :D

Get out of your own self-absorbed little world and try in improve things for somebody/something else.

Pick something you care about (other than money and status) ... animals, kids, the arts, the environment, technology (everybody needs tech help), history, music, politics ... The list is endless

Your college can probably even hook you up

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. => "You don't get, until you give." One of my personal credos.

Meditate.
