I'm not defending anything. I'm just saying that these lawsuits won't be this super huge amount of money like everybody thinks and the people who think that this will be the end of Penn State have pretty wild imaginations. I got a good laugh when Slucero posted that little gem.

Agreed, the inaction of a select group of assholes ruined it for the rest of us.

Given the outrageous tuition they charged me I figured they have more than enough money. :D

The victims will end up with less compensation (as if what they went thru could ever be compensated for) from the civil suit than the lawyers who defend them; once that is over the insurance companies will go to court, money will never be paid, and the true victims will end up with nothing but heartache.

TMZ is pretty accurate. They got the Van Halen thing right where Rolling Stone didn't

With civil cases, lawyers usually work on a contingency fee basis which means they get a 30-40% cut (if not more) of what ever the victims settle on. 33.3% is the average, which is way too much in my opinion.

I know 30 to 40% sounds high, but those guys can work on a case for months, and if their client loses, they get nothing. Plus, a contingency lawyer is going to work harder to win the case. A regular lawyer gets paid either way.

I heard about this over the weekend and I was somewhat a little surprised that they came up with the verdict that soon. Since some of the abuse took place on the campus and at an organization that used that campus (from my understanding, unless I'm mistaking), I would think that the school will get some heat over it as well. Seems like the campus was used by this individual as somewhat as a enabler.

Yep, just as I thought. The school's going to be paying this one for years to come.

And he needs to not be allowed to do this so he can receive the maximum pain and suffering. Offing himself would be to escape punishment.

Someone who's in there for insurance fraud or something will end up STAYING there for the murder of Sandusky. That's my prediction.

Maybe, but I think it will be someone who's serving life without the possibility of parole and has nothing at all to lose by killing another inmate.

I'm way older than five, but thanks.
Since we're playing ...he can find a way, people do ...the Craig's List Killer did.
It's sorta like the death penalty except we don't have to pay

Yes, he should suffer, he is a very sick man who tried, and failed,
to get caught years ago.

A lawyer working on a contingency basis in this mess will end up going broke as these cases will go on for years and years. These cases will ultimately end up being paid (if ever paid out) by insurance companies not individuals or the university and we know that they've got lawyers, billing by the hour, who will always find some tiny little print somewhere in the backside of a policy that get them out of paying. State Farm has already filed documents to exclude them from the litigation as they (State Farm) don't feel they have any liability for who or whatever they insured.
