Social Security Administration Buys Hollow Point Bullets?

Postby scarygirl » Wed Sep 05, 2012 8:33 am

What do you all make of this? What could the social security administration possibly need bullets for, of any kind, much less HOLLOW POINT?

This is the government's official expanation:

"The bullets are for Social Security's office of inspector general, which has about 295 agents who investigate Social Security fraud and other crimes, said Jonathan L. Lasher, the agency's assistant IG for external relations.

The agents carry guns and make arrests — 589 last year, Lasher said. They execute search warrants and respond to threats against Social Security offices, employees and customers."

That's less than 1,000 rounds per officer for the SSA. Not even enough for one qualification session if they practice. People need to shut the fuck up and quit being hysterical over this nonsense. They probably make this purchase at least twice a year. Don't know why everyone decided to get so worked up about it this time.

As for HOLLOW POINT projectiles, would you rather they used full metal jackets that pass through their intended target and into unintended targets? Chill the fuck out.

Really, people, why get so worked up over this? These are only meant to protect the officers against true criminals, who might attack them. Wanna see the President of the United States arsenal? It's not going to be pretty! A hollow point, as designed will blow the fuck out of a perpetrator, leaving everyone else intact.

Rrrrright... tell that to the 9 people shot by the NYPD with 9mm hollow points... 6 hit with fragments, 3 directly...

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

That wasn't the fault of the projectiles. That was the fault of piss poor marksmanship on the part of the officers who were shooting.
