Anyone Sell Home Owners, Flood Insurance?

Postby scarygirl » Fri Sep 14, 2012 11:06 am

So I got a sick cat. Sounds familiar. Poor baby has been having the craps for past two days (i was hoping it was just a bug) and no he has a big wad stuck to his big hairy long haired butt that I can't get out. So off to the vet in the morning.

In the meantime, I got flood insurance up for renewal. I only got money for 1 not both.

Question, what would happen if I didn't renew my flood insurance? Would they raise my rates when I try tov get it back later? Would they just not cover me? We're almost past the peak of hurricane season so I should be okay.

Oh, and as of October 10th I will be without a job.....

2 out of 3 I will do. I can't drown my cat. I tried bathing him, didn't really work out all that well.

Sounds like you live in Florida, and if so, you really REALLY need that flood insurance. My wife works for Citizens Property Insurance here in Florida and it would be really best to have the insurance. Tell your vet, hopefully you go there every year for your cat's medical needs, that you are a little short and if they could see the cat for less money as some will do that.

Other than that, give the cat to a no kill shelter if you can't take care of it. It may be hard to do, but it would be best for you both. Also there is a chance that when you come back into the money that you could get your cat back.

Good Luck,

lol ...

Are you in a flood zone?!?
If so carrying fl ins. should be a mandatory requirement
not a choice?!? I would think your mtg. co. would escrow
for this ea. mo. If you are just carrying it as an extra added
safety precaution why don't
you ask your mtg. co. to escrow for it so
you don't run into this problem again.

As for today, pay the ins. or you and your cat could be
homeless ...

Not in a flood zone, but I live Eastern NC where we do get hurricanes from time to time.

Was never really seriously thinking of skipping renewing flood insurance. Just more thinking aloud than anything.

Escowing for it isn't a bad idea. I have the full slate of insurance, HO6 (LIVE in a townhome), flood, and exterior insurance through my HOA dues in case the roof ever decides to fly away.

Vet bill wasn't as steep as I thought it would be. Turns out he has a bacterial infection. With antibiotics he will be right as rain. Just a little freaked out by it considering my last cat died of an allergic reaction to an antibiotic.

Would never drown my cat.
