Phone help

My son's phone imploded the other day, and I have to buy him a new one. Any suggestions on what I should or shouldn't get?

He was able to do a factory reset and fix it. He got a corrupted file from something he needed for one of his classes. Fixing it is way cheaper than replacing it, thankfully.
