Black Country Communion

What's the deal? Heard rumors they're putting out a new album and it's the last one they're going to do. Sounds like Hughes wants it to be a full time gig and Joe B wants it to be a part time deal and Hughes is getting pissy over it.

That pretty much sums it up. :-( I can't blame Joe for wanting to focus on his solo career. He's spent 20 years to get to this level and he wants to take advantage of it while he's hot. Still I would love to see him with BCC too.

Perhaps on the surface, but there was talk of the band splitting up after they released the upcoming album. Also in an interview I read with Glenn he gives the entire band (except Joe) props for the new album. Where there is smoke there is usually fire and it wouldn't surprise me to hear Joe and Glenn aren't getting along well right now.

Kevin Shirley weighs in on his Facebook page: "Cooler heads will prevail - it's no secret that they have "other lives" - hopefully we can keep them making music for years to come. I love them!" & "Everyone needs to chill, and ease up on all the tweeting and internet nonsense. It's just music!!! Let's Rock!"

The band is done. Show in Jan is cancelled and Joe just said hes out. Way to go: to build up a brand then kill it off. I guess JB just makes too much doing his 359 dates a year to be in a real band like BCC. This really sucks . F U Joe.

Never really listened to them before but am currently playing them on Youtube. They are excellent musically but I've never been a big fan of Glenn Hughes' voice.

To me, they sort of sound like a cross between Led Zeppelin and The Black Crowes.

What I like is how Hughes can still bring it vocally at his age. This is my favorite from them.

Amazing bunch of musicians. Veterans not living off of past glories recording new stuff without a heritage band name!

Both really good songs. I'm also amazed that Hughes can still sing like that.

He can be replaced... really, he can. Disappointed that it had to be like this, but there are definitely multiple guitarists that could bring their amazing talent to this band and not disappoint in the slightest. Why should the whole band be done because of this? They're too awesome to be done so soon...

Joe’s solo career and reputation is bigger than BCC and still rising. Why would he give that all away to commit everything to a band like BCC? If I were in his position I wouldn’t. Especially as every time I’ve seen them Glenn struts around front of stage like he’s the big star with Joe in a supporting role. You might as well ask Neal why he didn’t jack in Journey to commit everything to Soul Sirkus, or why Dave Grohl doesn’t disband Foo Fighters to commit his whole career to Them Crooked Vultures.

In my view it was always a side project for Joe. Glenn may have viewed it differently, because he’s been out of the limelight for so long and this is his only realistic chance at another shot at the big time.

It’s good to stretch yourselves musically by trying different things, but at the end of the day, musicians have to make choices, and they usually choose what they feel is best for themselves.

I agree. Joe's career is still blossoming. His new CD has some of the better SONGS I have heard from him. Maybe the guitar slinging is taking a back seat to the songs, but I can only take so many regurgitated blues songs before I'm bored. Much happier with the variety on the new CD.

BCC is good, and I love Glenn's voice most of the time, but he oversings on too many songs. I like when he is reigned in a bit and doesn't just scream too much.

Today's post on Kevin Shirley's Facebook page: ..."I promise there's more BCC to come..." :? Hmmmmmmm

Perhaps cooler heads will prevail after all? I can only hope.

Quite possible, but I would think it would be difficult to replace Joe since he and Shirley work so closely together on all of his solo stuff... unless Joe is giving his blessing to be replaced...

I think Joe would give his blessing if everything is amicable between the members. Hughes did say he's not mad, just frustrated with not being able to tour and promote the band. Time will tell.

Glad to see someone else on board with my dislikes. I do love some of his screams, it's just when it goes on ad nauseum that I can't stand it. I love this version of Whiter Shade of Pale. It's incredible for a man at his age and he sings it wonderfully. Wish everything he did was like this.

I'm a huge Joe fan, so I went to see BCC as well. I didn't like them, for this very reason.

That's too bad. I want to see them and I think the wife would like them except for the reason mentioned. I figured it might not bother me too much during a live performance when you are getting into the moment and stuff.
