By most accounts, the new Evil Dead is 90% practical gore efx with minimal CGI. The trailer leaked this week from Comic Con but was quickly pulled. Raimi and Campbell are producing it, but after Spider Man 3 and all the various duds released under Raimi's Ghost House productions (Boogeryman, The Messengers, The Possession) can we really trust these guys to know what a good movie is, much less what a good scary movie is? As an aside, I met Bruce Campbell. Total prick.

The first Phantasm is scary. The rest are pure cheese.

Gotta love the underrated Angus Scrimm. He and Christopher Lee should be cousins; they cornered the market on really tall, creepy old horror actors.

Did he refer to himself in the third person?

Ditto that! Lee's also great as the protagonist in The Devil's Bride (which TCM just showed again last night).

I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Any particular reason for him coming across as a prick?

I'm not the biggest fan of horror movies. Although I loved "The Shining" (I'm also a total Stephen King nut and have read many of his books), "An American Werewolf In London" and "The Lost Boys".
