OMG.  This guy really sounds like Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam. I think he sang better than the original.

There's nothing amazing about Eddie Vedder's vocals, hence there's nothing amazing about a Vedder wannabe.

Chris Cornell, on the other hand...

Cornell's one of the few singers out of that genre/time period that I like much at all. Great singer.

Why would anyone want to sound like that elephant head?

I can sing better than him by holding my nose and dunking my head in a bucket.

I wonder if he will consider reviewing Robert Fleischman's new album.....The Sky? I actually friended him on Facebook, then bought the album as a novelty, not expecting anything. Was I ever wrong! It turned out to be a fantastic album!

I remember reading an article in a guitar mag with Yngwie Malmsteen back in the 90s and they did this bit where they'd play clips of songs for him and ask him to critique the song and/or guitar playing. I happened to find the quote, so here it is. Priceless...

PEARL JAM
"GO"
Vs., Atlantic (1993)

I am going to dig my own grave right now. I think the singer in Pearl Jam should go eat some Pearl Jam! He cannot sing to save his life!

I understand where some people are coming from about Vedder. You either hate ‘em or love ‘em. Same thing with the grunge music, unless you’re from Seattle . But I still love listening to grunge music, particularly Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell, Stone Temple Pilots, and the late Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.

Not every Seattle singer from that era sounds like Vedder (who moved from San Diego to join Hurl Jam). Soundgarden sounded more like a metal band to me. They may have recorded for Sub Pop, but I've never thought of them as "grunge."

Soundgarden and Alice In Chains were, to my ears, Metal bands both heavily influenced by Black Sabbath. To this day, Cornell and Stayley are two of my favorite singers.

1. yarl

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=yarl

To sing like Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam. People like Scott Stapp (Creed), Jason Wade (Lifehouse), Alex Band (The Calling), are known for having Vedder-like voices. Another person known for yarling would be Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver), but after he was trashed for yarling like Vedder, he gradually began to sing differently and now sounds nothing like Vedder.

Although it has been said that Eddie Vedder's yarling was taken from people such as Ray Charles and Bruce Springsteen, the similarity between Vedder, Charles, and Springsteen is nowhere near as close as Vedder, Stapp, Wade, and Band.

"God, Scott Stapp is such an unoriginal bastard. He yarls exactly like Eddie Vedder."

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
