So THAT's why I don't care for you??? JUST joking of course Steve, but you left that one open for me. :D Dean's passing has helped me in ways I never thought of before. It was a slap in the face and it made me re-evaluate a few things in my life. I miss being able to throw down with the big dummy.

You know, it's really weird but I never thought I would be so upset to hear about someone passing whom I've never met. I did though. It really punched me in the gut and I just regret that I never made amends to him after our last dust-up. You just never know how much time you have here, and I'm glad we had Dean here while we did. RIP buddy.

I just came across an old post from Dean on my Facebook page (that my mother could read) when I turned 40. Only Dean could come up with this gem.   I still really miss that fucker's presence :( Go Canucks!

Dean Ohlrich commented on your link.

Dean wrote:

I came on here today after a while of problems caused my password. I read the news of Deans death with sadness. More, though, surprise that he had problems and sometimes caused friction on the site.

This was the first forum I ever posted on and, not being computer literate, did not know what I was doing. Dean contacted me by PM and offered to create me an avatar because he read my post where I stated I did not know how to do one. Thereafter, when I wanted a changed, I contacted him again and he willingly changed it for me, always chedking I approved of it. All I saw was a kind man who put himself forward to help someone he didnt even know. His messages to me were always charming and I am gutted to read this thread.

Dean, I saw your lovely personality shine through whatever problems you were battling. Thank you for you help. Wish I had been able to return the favour. RIP friend.

To all his family and close friends I offer my sincere condolences and hope you are managing to some peace and happiness again.

I'm really late on this but I just wanted to jump back in and say this was shocking news to me... I didn't know Dean had health issues and I'm sad to hear he has passed away. I didn't really know him beyond his posts and I admit I took a long time to warm up to his personality, but he always told me in PMs that he wanted to meet me and talk Journey, Los Angeles, and life, and now I really regret that I never did. One of the last PMs I ever got here was from Deano: "You are a great fan. I wish you'd post more." My sympathy goes out to Lula, Wyatt, and the rest of Dean's loved ones. Rest in peace.

hi all. thank you for the love. just wanted to share; we hit the road for 10 days, just mom and son. visited with family, had a great trip. wy starts kindergarten and i enter my 10th yr as a teacher come august. missing daddy terribly. we both have really bad days sometimes, but we are surviving, and finding humor in all we can.

fay and i had an amazing experience at the bruce show, i'll be writing it all down for wy and will share here as well. unless she already did of course

not sure who's all still here, but my love and appreciation continues for you all. the bond of knowing dean is strong and brings comfort.

xo,
lula

ps,
fuck yeah! the kings! stanley cup! went to game 3 of conf finals. kings won!! yes :!:

had to add that.

Good to hear from you Lula! I'm sure it's been a rough summer without Dean, but it's good that you are getting on with your lives and spending quality time together. Can't believe Wyatt will be starting kindergarten already, time sure flys by!!

I think of Dean often and sometimes forget that he's no longer with us. I keep expecting him to pop onto this forum at any time and can still feel his presence here. I hope that time will help ease your sorrow and I wish you & Wyatt a world of happiness!!

Take care and keep us posted! ((Hugz))

Just thought of Dean and laughed at how heated and humorous that last thread I was in would have been if he had words in it.
Also, I continue to pray for you and Wyatt, Lady Lula.

This place isn't the same without him. There is not nearly as much comedy here without Dean's cleverness and passion. Mac, thanks again for the comment regarding the fuckwit Scott Weiland. You would have made Dean proud.

Passion. That's the key word. No doubt it was often childish, or venomous...jokingly, or sincere. I can't hardly accept that his poking was all in jest. And I can't accept that all his vulgar language was frivolous. I mean, why would anyone want to be known as a bully? Then again, most of this internet crap is misrepresented, and misunderstood.

Many think that karma does, as karma is earned...or disrespected.

Yes, it's sad... Met him, know him, understand him, all of the above, or none of the above.
Very few can honestly answer that.

Passion...the fruit that binds.
Passion...the words that break.
Passion...we continue to grow.
Passion...the emotion few hearts truly know.

I know I post so seldom that most of you dont even know who I am anymore. Well, its taken some time but I just wanna add my thoughts to Lula and Wyatt. I pray that time makes this loss a little "less tough" to deal with.
Damn, Dean used to push my buttons a lot. Had me so pissed off that I wanted to spit fire. But the guy always sent the coolest PM's. Although one minute hes PM'ing me saying "I was just fucking with ya man" then the next hes busting my balls again. It was who he was and he was the life of this message board. When I first heard the news I was at a loss of words but then I went back and reread our battles on here. They were fierce and brutal but always fun. It was Dean who informed me that my grammer sucks! It was Dean who reminded me every football season how much the Gators sucked ass!!!!
God speed my old nemesis! God bless Lula and Wyatt and the rest of Dean's family.

Found this old clip from February 2007 when a big crew of us went to Florida for 3 Journey shows. I'm visible, but you get a nice dose of Dean in it. Forget who filmed it. Pretty funny stuff.

hi everyone,
still here. wyatt is doing great in school. he has made many friends and has a crush on his teacher, just like his daddy, lol. he is excelling in reading, science and math. i am very prod of him. wyatt is also very caring, thoughtful, and super loving with a great creative imagination.

sadly, a day does not go by without "i miss daddy" and many tears. i am extremely grateful that wyatt had dean in his life everyday. the contibution dean made in wyatt's development is undeniable. many can argue who dean was as a man, but no one can deny his role as a fantastic father.

i miss him terribly. it was lonely election night as we always enjoyed politics together. we soldier on tho. and i can say, being a parent as many of you know is not an easy task, being a single parent sucks, but the rewards and love from a child makes it all worth it.

Dean has been gone 9 months on the 27th of november. i have not reached acceptance. we continue grief support fow Wyatt and i have a mom's group once a month. i am grateful for all the blessings we receive and that you all are still here <3
