I was JUST typing about this in the other thread and thought better of it... Then saw this post.
You're absolutely right. I watched the induction ceremony and them playing. Nice to see Richie there (where he belongs). "Take me to the C!" says JBJ just before "Bad Name" - no Jon, that was actually a B. Things were tuned down (which is his right, sure). His live approach to singing has been funky for years and now he's using his live vocal approach on the albums too. He had a really good voice at one time (Jersey/Slippery/Keep the Faith) but he completely changed his approach somewhere along the line and I don't think it's served him very well. Maybe due to damage, but the way he sings now can't be helping him. I'm hoping that he gets some help. If I recall correctly, he's got a coach. What he has now may be the best he can do at this point in his career. Such a shame that has to happen to singers.
