I don't think they should get back with Hagar or Roth. The hype/expectations that have piled up on either scenario is too much to overcome. A new singer...possibly a new name? Whatever they do,I think they should do a farewell tour w/both singers[a real one.....not an endless one like KISS] and take the band out on a high note.I really would be happy to see ED/Alex collaborate w/others and I know they would come up w/ some killer shit! Sam,if he doesn't try to become a full-time VH1 butt-buddy, and doesn't keep thinking that he needs to make Goo Goo Dolls style literock, can always remain a solid ROCK performer.
Dave...well,if he can keep on convincing musicians and rec. companies to work w/him....he will still continue to put out albums w/2-3 solid straightforward rockers on them for us to enjoy.
THE FREAKS COME OUT AT 9.....AND IT'S 20 TO 10!

I'm a HUGE VH fan. But lets face it. The only thing that could save Diamond Dave 'right now' is getting back together with VH. I saw Dave in vegas. He is almost joke. For one thing, he fills the atmosphere with a poorly cheesball set of his solo years, and VH stuff. But the solo stuff he chose to due...was mostly his 'wish they all could be California girls' crap!
I realize it's vegas, but DLR put out some great recordings with Vai, sheehan and Bisonete. He only played 'Yankee rose'. He has really destroyed the legitamacy of his career.
At this point, I think VanHalen shoud call it. With Sammy at the helm, it would just be another half assed project that would only end up in failure....and tainting the greatness of VanHalen!

I would rather a Dave reunion but at this point I wouldn't mind having Sammy back either. If Dave really can't sing it anymore then it's gotta be Sammy. If Dave can sing it then bring it on.

I would be more than delighted to see the RED ROCKER back in VH.
Let's face it folks, Sammy Hagar is one of the most consistent performers of his time. His engine is still up and running while Diamond Dave's has been sputtering for the last 10 years. VH w/ Dave WAS great but there's no way they would be able to capture that magic they had w/ him. DLR just does NOT have it anymore. He's a couple of steps from being Keith Richards or Ace Frehley.
Bringing Sammy back would be the best move the VH brothers can make for their band. Having Dave might bring them a little more nostalgia but musically speaking, the band overall would suffer.
DLR Fans --- face the facts here and realize your frontman is nowhere near the singer that Sammy STILL is.

Van Halen is Eddie, Alex, Michael and SAMMY!

Agree with the last post! The Gagar era won me over cause it was less party and more business than the DLR era. Sure, Sammy tried hard at times to keep the party flame alive, but overall serious VH kicked more ass, and that's just my opinion, so don't shoot me.

BRING ON THE RE-UNION SAMMY OLE BOY!

I am actually so numbed by the persistant rumors and stupidity of the VH brothers that I really could care less about them "maybe" reuniting.

When I go to put on a VH cd, I never grab a Hagar era cd. I cut my teeth musically listening to Roth/Vh & I didnt develop a taste for Van Hagar.
However, I did continue to listen to the Hagar/VH stuff, it just didnt move me like the old stuff. maybe Im old school, but I thought Roth was in better shape (physically/vocally) than many said when reviewing the Sam/Dave tour. I think it was a night to night basis for comparison because everyone knows Dave still lives a life of excesses.

The reality is that it will NEVER be the same with either singer ever again. If you are looking for it to feel the same, it will come close, but fall short (IMO). Sam is great and was great in VH. Eddie is very troubled and may not have much in the tank. Lets hope that he has 5 years of riffs stored in his riff-bank that can catapolt VH back to the top.
I'll wait for the official statement, and then I will be skeptical until I hear the new stuff. These guys have been real babies to each other in the past. Sh1t could happen and it wont go off.

Reunite with both Sam & Dave. Do a double live record and dvd with Sam on disc one and Dave on disc 2. Close the book. Make us all happy.

This was posted on WRIF in Detroit

"van hagar..again????
another shocker is the website..www.undercover.com claiming that sammy hagar will reunite with van halen...nothing official from either of the two camps..but it would mean that sammy would've had to recover from the indignity of how he found out he was outta the band ..when he discovered that eddie and the others were recording with david lee roth again..course that resulted in a few new tunes among their best of ..and then roth devolved into the creature eddie once described with 'l.s.d.' or lead singer's disease...the rumor is that they've signed a deal with irving azoff who manages the eagles..sammy hagar..and jewell.."

I compare the possible Van Halen/Sammy Hagar reunion to a Paul McCartney & Wings reunion since it's not like a VH/DLR reunion or a Beatles reunion even though it's going to be great seeing Eddie Van Halen back onstage again showcasing his legendary guitar virtuosity.
