Learning to see

Postby Kenny » Wed Jun 09, 2004 11:01 pm

Just listened to this whole song.
Mid pace, bit different, more like VH III material to me......still good though, and a pretty 'out there' solo from Edward. In a way I would like them to leave a little more space in the music - it's very 'full'.
Very nice to have new VH music though. :D

Yeah, I'm actually a little undecided on this one Kenny.
Like the whole vibe and agree it's a little III sounding, but to me more reminiscent of Balance, much like 'Don't tell me...' and opener 'Seventh Seal'. My problem is I think it's a really bland chorus. And probably more annoying is when the tune starts off I so think I am listening to a Hagar solo album!!!!! Not a bad thing, just not what I would hope it to be considering it's VH.

Hmmm, is growing on me and I'm confident with a better quality version and it pumping from the car stereo (much to my kids delight!!!) it will do fine. I'm actually enjoying the music to 'Up for breakfast' much more although the lyrics annoy me.

I think they chose the right song to release first.
Whatever, it's VH and I like all three tunes more than most stuff out there so there ya go!

I actually like this one the best out of the 3. It's different but I kept coming back to this one. I had to sit with these songs a few days. I wasn't blown away. You figure after waiting so long...

Two rolling eyes Bob? Does that mean you're doubly unimpressed?

I dig it

I'm really impressed with it. Its got that Balance-heading-into-Humans-Being-territory. The opening to the track though, well that's straight out of the Ten-13 text-book, anyone else getting that? I don't know the track that it reminds me of, but I'll get back to you on it shortly.

New Van Halen material, in my book, you just make yourself like it, its been toooooooo long...Here's proof, I hated DLR material but after being starved fresh material a while back, I revisited the Best Of Volume I to hear the DLR tracks off it. Tracks I had completely ignored from day one, just because. After that I was hooked and went delving into the Van Roth catalogue, it was like xmas, all this new stuff I'd never heard, LOL.

Sad but true, anyway, the new stuff is great by proxy so perhaps my comments shouldn't be listened to, lol.

Cheers and beers

This song sounds like it could become my favorite out of the three. But I have to reserve my final judgement until after they've released higher quality versions. There's probably all sorts of stuff going on in these last two tracks that we haven't been able to make out yet.
