Goodbye Classic Van Halen

I don't think the original Van Halen will ever happen again because it's COMPLETELY history now with the Van Halen/Sammy Hagar reunion announcement & upcoming tour while old fans like myself have concert memories of them in those days when they were the kings of rock with few equals with Eddie's excellent guitar virtuosity & Dave's showmanship & bad ass attitude along with those first six important & influential classic rock albums since Eddie Van halen & David Lee Roth were the Lennon/McCartney, Page/Plant of their time but this tour is all about the return of EVH onstage after a long absence from the spotlighh, which is great!!!

I lived in a medium size Midwestern town and VH ver. 1.0 came to town in support of 1984. I was so stoked about seeing them, I didn't even mind nearly getting trampled to death when the festival seating concert hall doors swung open.

DLR was drunk off his ass and slurred his way through the songs and probably nearly cut off his head when he did his "kung fu" stage show with sword. I was NOT amused.

Still, I do have to admit I wish when they reunited this time they'd get Dave in there to sing "Panama" and "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" one more time.

I wish Eddie would get off his can and work on an instrumental album a la Jeff Beck's "Blow By Blow" or Joe Satriani's "Surfing with the Alien". It won't sell multi-platnum or allow him to sell out arenas, but at least he'd get back some artistic credibility (I hope I spelled that right....)
